Great performance mic.

I use Shure SH55 Series II mostly for recording purposes. Voice and all kinds of guitars. The delivery was fast as usual. Very good product for this price.

The Mike has great sound

I love this mike, its sound is stunning, however if you are anyway breathy it will train you how to work better with that as it picks up on that easily. We use this with the Fender 100 and it's a gorgeous sound.

Classic sure quality and sound

Well, I was using this model previously, its classic already. Best quality/price combination. If you want simpler design you could buy 58 model - it has the same inside and it will be a bit cheaper, but I need mic for live performance so I have chosen this one.

Classic sure quality, durability and sound.

Concreet!

Like concreet and build like a tank!

We use it for recordings in sessions where we don't sounds of the room in the singing mic

Good looks and sound - An ideal package.

I love this mic. I fell in love with the looks a good time ago, but hearing it in action really made the purchase worth while.

The Sound - It's everything I've come to expect from Shure. It has pretty much the same internals as the ubiquitous SM58, and the sound is as good as you should expect. Couple that with the aesthetics and you have a mic worth reckoning with.

The looks - This is a beautiful mic. The vintage looks really work for our band - Late 50s early 60s music. If it fits your style, go for it.

Excellent sound and durability for a great price - would recommend!

Like many others, I was attracted by the looks of this classic microphone, and I read some positive reviews so I decided to buy one for live gigs with my band.

It is a very versatile mic, with an excellent feedback control, it has a great sound that cuts through the mix.

The pros never end, so I will write down the only con that I experienced with this one - it is a little more difficult to use than a standard dynamic mic like SM58 (which I also own), it takes some time until you get used to this one, you have to try and find that 'sweet spot'.

I mostly use this microphone for blues-rock gigs, I had never experienced problems with feedback in small clubs, even though this one can really pick up a lot of spills from the drums and amps, so I would not recommend a high gain.

It really looks very classy, especially at a blues/jazz gig. The most beautiful microphone I have ever seen, and it is really well built, you don't have to worry that it will break easily if you drop it or something.

All in all - a great value for the money, I would definitely recommend this microphone to anyone!

Great original retro mic

Retro in design, but not in sound.

Rugged aluminium body and timeless design.

Modern version of SM58 capsule under the hood. And it is interchangeable for capsule from SH55 Deluxe (also sm58 version but better freq. response), so you can have deluxe version in standard design.

Sound is really good - more airy as SM58. Suits many voices. I bought it for a friend, and her voice is great through this mic.

Try before buy is recommended.

Faulty power switch but easily replaced aftermarket. Big sound, great response for mid and highmid timbres.

Classic look with Shure Reliability

OK, So i'm in a rock band, surely you would think that this mic would be more suited to the classic crooners...

How wrong you would be!!

If it's good enough for James Hetfield, it's good enough for me!

MIc sounds amazing and cuts through the mix with minimal of compression. Bands singers all use one now and we are loving these every night

All I Expected Was Delivered

It's such a beautifully designed microphone and the quality of the manufacture is excellent. It's iconic presence probably makes it a tad overpriced. But I've been using the microphone constantly during January and February 2017 and the regular use has increased my skill in the most effective way to use it. It's not necessary to get too close as long as there is sufficient gain - but not too much. The only hint of feedback was when my headphones brush the mike as I was reaching across to continue the recording session.

My guess is that the original mike of 60 years ago was bigger. The size and aesthetic beauty of the latest model is perfect for me. My only cautionaly note for those wishing to buy one is to be careful when buying a mike stand to suit the SH55, the locking screw on the K&M 260/1 stand is too wide for the mike to be fully screwed onto the the stand with the inserted K&M 215 adapter. I can still use the Mike for studio work - but would want to be careful of the choice of stand - or file down the perimeter of the locking screw by a millimeter - for on the road gigs.

Great vintage style microphone

I bought this for my then girlfriend, now wife, for her to use with our vintage jazz duo (guitar and vocals.) It looks 'the business' and sounds great through my AER compact. You can get a cheaper lookalike, but don't bother; you'll only want to upgrade sooner rather than later. This is the original and best

CLASSIC MIC!

Bought this mic based on the aesthetics (for photos) but it is a great mic. A little pop noise, even after I added a little more foam inside. I tested with thick and thin foam inside, and it did make a little sound difference (more muted) so I went for the thinner foam...which reduced the pops but did not elimintae them completely. If you want the best sound quality for vocals then try the Neumann KMS mics... but for the vintage feel..or the aesthetics factor then this mic is great! (Probably not best for studio use.) This is a classic mic and the technology and design have been obvioulsy developed over the last 60 years to improve mics, so I was happy as it was as expected after reading all the mic reviews....still love my Neumann KMS105 for my main gigs!

Beautiful piece of Metal

I purchased this for our singer and we were all blown away with the physical build quality and weight as well as the slight gain it adds to the vocals. Singing into the top or bottom of the mic varies the bass tones significantly.

All in all another great Mic from the guys at Shure.

Looks the business!

Not to sound like a bunch of posers but, my band bought this mic to use in a music video and it really looked the part. I'm glad we didn't go for a cheaper copy model because, the build quality is brilliant, It's solid and we have used it beyond it's feature in a video.

We went on to use it in rehearsals and it is great but, quite quiet? You have to really be kissing the microphone when singing to be picked up. That might just be down to them keeping the guts of the microphone as close to the original as possible.

Be aware that to mount it to a standard mic stand you will need to buy a thread adapter to fit it. It is great to use handheld too though if you aren't playing guitar and have hands free!

Excellent Tone from this mic

I bought this for mainly Blues gigs and not only does it give a great image but most of all the sound quality is excellent.

Real good rounded sound. Highly recommended.
