Shure Super 55 Deluxe Reviews
Great looking mic with a solid sound
Used the mic for over a year on a touring show, where it got thrown around and heavily used! It never missed and beat and sounded great. Particularly whilst it was on axis. When the performer went off axis there is a noticeable change, as to be expected. After a few months the hinge came a bit loose and needed tightening as the head of the mic is reasonably heavy.
Great niche mic
Great sound. tested it against the normal 55 and it's way better. the 55 sounds muffled. It's much like the difference between the 58 and the beta 58 though I think in this case it's a bigger difference because of the size of the casing. the 55 has some issues that have to be fixed right off the bat. This one also has to be carved in some frequencies, but it's a much better mic.
The right choice for many reasons!
I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to microphones... We decided to buy the Shure Super 55 Deluxe for our vocalist's birthday. We did the research and chose it over couple other microphones of the "same" class and we don't regret it! Ever since he got it, it's his favorite microphone both for live shows and rehearsals. The quality is just phenomenal. Not to mention that every sound engineer responsible for our sound live was so happy to see it and work with it. The only issue I would mention is the lack of on/off bidirectional switch, which actually ain't a big of a problem. I would say - for the money to quality ratio, this is the right choice!
Classic 50s elvis mic.
Big improvement on my old 55 regular. A definite upgrade in sound, but still not as good as a Shure SM58, but worth it for the look.
Great Mic
This mic has a great sound. Clear and full and with a pretty strong signal.
It actually helped me sing better, or anyhow, listen to my voice more correctly. It is perfect for live situations and rehearsals and also for recordings. I highly recommend it!
Good
Excellent rate quality/price. Very good!
Great looks. BUT!
It is far too expensive for what it is.
An SM58 blows it out of the water in terms of versatility & consistent sound quality.
Still, it turns heads & sounds alright.
I was not overwhelmed
It's an ok mic but do try one somewhere first to make sure it is the sound you're looking for. I bought & my friend did at the same time, both threads that connect the mic to the stand failed. The threads are made of very soft material & wear out quickly. I had to have a mod done where a threaded sleeve was fitted.
Legendary!
What can I say about this other than - LEGENDARY! Robust made, perfect tonal quality and sharp chrisp high-end!
Nice but not for me
Not for singing drummers, too heavy and singing with your mouth touching the mic is irritating because of the largeness/structure
Super cool!
I use this mic when performing 50's/60's stuff and it looks the business and sounds great! Perfect fo what I needed and I highly recommend!
Amazing look and sound
Stunning looking mic with superb sound quality (way better than the regular 55)
Excelent product
i recommend it to everyone.
I love this Microphone
Brilliant Sound Quality. I have been using a Shure SM58 for a long time and this Microphone "Shure Super 55 Deluxe" is far superior in sound quality. You do have to get close to it for the sound to pickup but I suppose that is the design.
I have one problem with Shure Microphones. I recently bought an SM58 as well and I notice that the Microphone Boxes are not sealed. The box for the Shure Super 55 Deluxe was not sealed either. I wrote to Shure but they didn't give me any satisfaction. Anyone in transit or in a shop or warehouse could take the Mic out and use it and put it back again and the person buying the microphone would never know. Why doesn't Shure seal their microphone boxes?
Best vintage microphone
I think this is an extremely good product. Before buying the Shure Super 55 I tried a lot of vintage microphone, but I was always surprised by the low quality of sound the sound they produced. This time the result has been great!
The microphone has a really interesting sound with a good frequency response (voice sounds really natural). Heavy and well-built it shows a beautiful and captivating design, able to conquer all 50s addicted.
No feedback, good sound, stable mic. Suggested to everyone is looking for a vintage look microphone without renouncing to a modern and reliable sound.
Shure for sure..
This mic will not let you down, it's rugged, tough, durable and good to look at., it's heavy, and works every time.
I like that it doesn't have an on off switch, less things to fail.
I play music from the 40s and 50s, (well I try) and this just adds to the whole overall feel.
When I spend money on something I never want to worry about having to buy another, I always buy quality, it saves money in the long run, and if you ever need to sell again, quality always sell.
Best vintage looking microphone
Last 10 years I am in a rockabilly music, playing guitar and singing. During this time I have tried a countless vintage looking microphones and now I have a pretty good experience with them. But as I started to my music more professionally I needed a microphone I can trust in 100% and I chose Shure Super 55 Deluxe. What can I say after a year of using it:
1) feedback is reduced almost to zero and that is a very important thing for all vintage looking microphones, ‘cause for any other model I had, there was always much of job for sound engineers to balance this problem.
2) sound is excellent! My voice sounds natural and that’s the best performance I ever had on a vintage microphones.
3) the microphone care is very simple and it always looks like new one!
If you want to work professionally and need a vintage looking microphone then Shure Super 55 Deluxe is a best choice!
Shure super 55
Well what can I say ...... Brilliant 10/10
Great Stage Mic But Some Practical Problems
Okay, so there are certainly better sounding, more transparent, mics for use on stage, but few that have the same visual impact and charm as the Shure 55. My daughter sings and the retro looks of this mic are all part and parcel of the show.
The lack of the switch as on the SH55 Series 2 is a shame, but the slightly superior sound of the Super 55 Deluxe is the trade off.
My only issue is that the mic cable XLR socket at the base of the mic is both too close to the mic support point and does not lock well, leaving the insertion of cables a tricky exercise and sometimes a slightly uncertain proposition.
Brilliant!
This looks the business and IS the business. Far superior to your standard 58's and look the nuts. We've had this in our band now for quite a while and it still sounds brill! If you want the old type look but with todays sound, look no further.
GREAT!
