Secret sauce

Sweet boutique pedal. It’s an ‘always on’ piece of gear that gives the sound a subtle lift. Expensive, but I’m happy.

AC/DC in a box

Does what it advertises: AC/DC-like tones.

I've owned this pedal for just under a week now. I won't pretend I know exactly how the circuit works, but it appears to be a clean-ish boost with some sort of compression built in. I'm saying clean-ish, because the boost does appear to have a bit of an EQ on board, which to me seems to accentuate mostly the mids to mid-highs.

I mostly use it as an always-on pedal in front of my amp. It respects picking dynamics and the guitar's tone control, and it plays quite nicely with other drive pedals (I currently use this one first in my signal chain as that appeared to work best).

The pedal (knobs, switch) feels well-built. The manual is short, but to the point. I would've liked a few "preset" examples for interaction between the knobs like the Strymon manuals offer, but it's fairly easy to dial in.

The one complaint I have is that the boost operates in the frequency of my amp's humming noise, amplifying this along with the guitar signal. My Marshall is largely to blame for that one though, and this also occurs with some other boost pedals.

Very good boost!

I use this pedal with an old Marshall JTM45 and it sounds great. Definitely in the AC/DC ballpark.

Personally I don't consider it an overdrive/distortion pedal as such, I consider it more of a boost pedal that helps adding a bit of gain and aggression to the sound.

If you use it on a clean amp it boosts the volume considerably adding some gain, but when you use it in front of an already distorting amp it simply adds more gain and a slightly different EQ and not so much volume.

Very easy to use and it's power with a normal 9V transformer (such most Boss pedals).

Very good pedal.
