Needed some TLC but I like it very much yes

So.... I'd seen all the good Classic Vibe feedback and finally decided to drink the koolaid. I don't buy many guitars - this is the first guitar I've bought since my number one, a Gibson SG Standard, 8 years ago. This is my first Tele and my first maple neck.

The Good:

Fit and finish are great, no complaints. I've not found ANY cosmetic issues. And it looks MEAN. I've always wanted a 72 custom style Tele and this guitar for me fills the need.

The neck is smooth, comfortable and a pleasure to play. It's thicker then I expected but not as big as the 50's rounded profile on my SG.

The BAD:

Delivery setup was ATROCIOUS.

I have limited setup skills - I prefer to play guitars rather then fiddle with them. But even I, over the last 2 days, was able to massage it into a very playable state (Odin bless Google and YouTube). The action was all over the place, truss rod needed adjusting, and the intonation was a nightmare. After some TLC it's feeling pretty good but tuning stability is only ok, I'll be changing the nut to a TUSQ XL which I'm sure will help and I've already got a Wilkinson bridge on order as I'm having a hard time intoning well with the stock bridge.

.

Nitty gritty time - SOUND: To be honest, clean tones I'm a bit underwhelmed. Its's ok....ok? I expected a bit more but the neck pickup is a bit muddy and the bridge a bit weak. I have adjusted pickup heights which has helped, but for me when playing clean I'd prefer to have my SG.

However...DIRTY is another story. With a good fuzz pedal this things screams and slays. Especially the bridge single coil - it is simply put just plain MEAN. A fuzz beast. A FUZZCASTER! Neck humbucker is good but the bridge is def the money shot. I'm going to keep the stock pickups for now, purely for the fuzz funtimes.

Final verdict - I like it for it's unruly fuzz fed beastly side. It's best when not trying to be polite. It's rude. Very rude. It's the bloke you don't want dating your daughter. Def a keeper.
