Stairville DMX-Master MK II ENC Reviews
a good product for a good price
Of course, you don't expect a high-standard level from this device, however the building looks robust clean, and the metal body construction doesn't look "cheap", except for the grey plastic buttons. Nevertheless, these plastic buttons seem to work fine, with an instant 'clic' to the function. not enough time spent so far to rate the faders quality. Handling is quite intuitive even if switching from chaser back to scenes looks a little "dodgy" to me (I haven't been using a lighting desk during the last 15 years, so...!). Anyway, so far I'm pleased with it. I use it in my office room to control ambiant lights, and to create a mood when I'm practicing guitar at home. A good product for the price.
excellent but
I should have bought one with all channels on one page.
Great Fun
Once I got it up and running its great fun, just a bit time consuming but that was down to my knowledge! It's lasted allot of parties and stood the test of time.
Works as expected
Looks great and is easy to operate, with a good user manual. Just missing an USB port for light.
Great introduction to DMX
I found this unit a great introduction to DMX. The manual's not helpful but found a couple of good YouTube vids which showed me how to get started. I run a variety of light fixtures and programming is straightforward is a little tedious.
A blackout footswitch option would be really useful though.
good value, average product
nice and cheap controller with good options, especially the patcheable double encoder wheels. the downside is that everything really feels cheap too, flimsy and plastics feel like cheap plastics. good value for the money but i might shell out three times the amount for a step up in quality
Extremely resistant, compact DMX controller
There are many controllers as this one out there - but this has something more. You can feel it in the material: solid metal, no plastic (apart from the outer removable in installed in a rack setup). Super easy to use, easy to program and set up scenes as well as to use as live controller. Very nice to start out easy with a low budget and still run very professionally programmed scenes.
Perfect for any installation
Easy to use lightweight and durable
great
great for small to medium set ups and so easy to use
Great Product
This is a great controller that has been put to use in a small club controlling multiple types of lights.
it is easy to program and gives great effects at the touch of a button.
Good Value for the money.
Great all rounder
I don't know a whole lot about programming lights, but this console made it very easy to figure out a whole range of lighting scenes for LED Bars and moving heads.
Very Happy.
easy to use and ideal for beginners
purchased this for a primary schools stage lighting, this is used by the staff and year 6 and they find it easy to use without any problems.
Great controller for those with limited dmx programming experience to start out on. Ideal for those compare systems to bring in some control over all fixtures
Thing to make the lights flicker and that.
I like my Stairville DMX-Master MK II ENC very much. It's sleek design makes me look like a proper lighting pro. I can press all the buttons very quickly and make it look like I really know my stuff. Unfortunately, I'm not terribly well organised and every time I go to a gig, I have to write some new chases depending on the position of the stage, well, I say stage... it's more often than not somebody's old trestle table that they usually use for doing car boot sales and that. I also need to get around to colour coding my dmx cables and numbering my light units. It's one of those 'I'll get around to it' sort of jobs. Anyway, in the right hands the Stairville DMX-Master MK II ENC is everything you need it to be. I'm very pleased with mine and I think you should definitely get one. We can compare notes if you like.
Very Useful controller
Once you get the hang of programming it (which doesn't take long) you'll find loads of uses for this neat little desk, I bought it to control 8 moving heads at a small party where I couldn't take my Sirrus 500 and it coped fine. Only drawback is there is no master fade control and pan & tilt wheels didn't seem to do anything but this was not an issue as I had full control on the faders
Easy to Use Controller
My first dabble with DMX programming. I found the desk pretty easy to use. I am using it to control 4 moving heads which up to now I was using on their own sound activate settings. The desk allows you to get way more out of you lighting units.
Excellent for club use!
If you are new to DMX and want a controller that is simple to use but get's you very far then this is a very viable option. I didn't expect this controller to be as versatile as it is,as to be fair, it doesn't look very complex.
Been using it as the main light controller in my club for a little over a year now and it can take a beating, spilled drinks etc. No problem operating sveral diffrent lights at once, and it's possible to operate a single lightsource outside of chases. This is very good when you want to ex make a laser shine constantly while not interfering with your chase.
Recommended. Better then it looks.
Good Budget Desk
If you are looking for a DMX desk with plenty of features at a budget price I can recommend this desk. I purchased this to run some budget Stairville LED par cans and this desk allows you to control them remotely. It has made the bands lighting so much better.
really pleased with this dmx controller
So easy to use: great supporting documentation on usage of the device and programming scenes and chases.
Superb, solid build quality of the basic unit, faders and knobs/buttons appear to operate consistently and smoothly so far.
No complaints from me :-)
Easy to learn
By reading the manual you can be programing after little time and it's really easy to make scens and chases
