Strymon have a winning formula

Combining the analog signal with the digital effects is a winning formula. The pedal works well with guitars, as well as mono and stereo synths.

Excellent pedal

This pedal can support unlimited creative ideas with all its features. It would be beneficial to listen and examine all the presets first.

The trip between the sound banks is a bit difficult. We recommend that you record the sounds in advance and presets close to each other.

Delivers all the delays I could ever need

Easy to sound good quickly, but tough to really get into the details of this very complicated unit. Faultless sound

Amazing pedal. It can do anything you want. The options are nearly unlimited and the loop works wonderfully. the quality is as good as it gets. I'm still only starting to explore the things this pedal can do. However, i would recommend a noise reducer when using the timeline

Awesome pedal

This pedal is even more amazing in real life than what you hear in the online recordings. It is very easy to use even though it has so many features. Once you get a basic flow of editing things will go very smoothly. The algorithms are fantastic offering very organic sounds for a digital pedal, just the tape echo can easily prove this.

This is a fantastic delay unit.

This is a fantastic delay unit.

It does everything you need from a delay and then some.

You know that strymon does not cut corners into manufacturing their pedals, and their range is the proof of it. Beautifully crafted, and sounding amazing.

That being said, the only fault I found on this pedal so far, is that Im finding a bit hard to adapt to the preset/bank switching system. I will still give it a try, but so far it has been total mayhem live, because when i go bank up I end up changing the tempo...

Great Delay

Very good delay which really has any kind of suond you need. From grits to tape noise you can have any color you like, covering from digital to analog sounds. maybe a more user friendly interface and more support in internet (in term of downloadable settings) would have been good, but here we are in professional mode...

I really like the digital dealy he has inside and also some feature like tremolo or bucket delay. tape analog delay is also great.

i would recommend to anyone who need both for leasure or for use on stage. AND DON'T FORGET TO USE A DEDICATED PLUG. Enjoy!

best delay pedal ever!

i use this delay pedal with my band. being the lead singer and only guitarist, being able to preset my FX for each song was a must. And this pedal is perfect for that.

I also use it in the studio, and set up 2 amps, the stereo image i get is unbelievable.

The way the stereo sound is created is actually quite complex cos it doesn't just pan L/R, it's much more subtle than that! i think it reverses the phase of some of the signal panned, creating an incredible 3D sound.

PROS:

I love the Dual mode (2 different delay in 1), swell delay, the Grit that you can add, which allows to have a little distorsion on the delay, it's gorgeous with a clean sound. it gives that extra bite without being too aggresive. lot of space to save to presets. entirely MIDI controlable (which is very easy to use).

CONS: price, a little complex to handle at first.

Best delay I own

I love this delay pedal, and I've owned quite a few over the years. This has replaced a TC Nova Delay now and I would never get rid of the Timeline. It's presets are fantastic and there is so much room for storage that I actually have different presets for 4 different bands spread out over the pedal, and now that they have released the preset manager program it's really easy to plug in and re-order your presets into setlist order before the show. The sound quality is brilliant and the depth of tweaking you can get into with the programming of sounds is second to none. I use this live along with an MXR carbon copy analog delay for that hands on wind up and self-oscillation thing that only an analog pedal can do best. Sure the Timeline can do a version of what the Carbon Copy does but why bother when an analog pedal will always do it better. For digital delays, presets, programming tempos etc, and of course the sound, the timeline can't be beaten. It won't be coming off my pedalboard!

Great sound

I have the Eventide too but prefer the tones from this, it's very ear friendly and musical with easy to use interface.

Still the best sounding digital delay pedal

The best sounding digital delay I've ever used, rack, pedal or plugin. Was originally using it on guitar, and it was perfect. Tried it with my synths and it worked great for them too. All the emulations (tape, analog) sound amazing, really warm and organic, and the more esoteric delays such as the filter and shimmer can be really creative if used properly. The unit is built to withstand a nuclear explosion. Only problem I had with it was a slightly dodgy footswitch, but I contacted Strymon directly and they sent me a new one totally free of charge! Only issue I had with it in use is that I don't like menu diving, which there is still some because of all the params unique to each delay type. Maybe could have had a couple more knobs for the more common params, but I'm just nitpicking now.

Strymon Timeline - Best delay on the market.

Incredible pedal. The presets are glorious, it's hard to create a sound that isn't perfect. Should you want to create you own presets you can, and with ease. Only thing that din't make complete sense was how long it takes to get into the looper - its time consuming and unintuitive. That said, the strymon multi-switch they have recently released irradicates this problem. Incredible pedal, more than worth the money.

Delays to Die for!

I purchased this along with the other 2 high end Strymon pedals to use in my new GigRig G2 based pedalboard setup. This has an amazing array of delay effects along with a great quality looper. The unit has full mid controllable features including the looper. The only downside on the midi side of things is the absence of any kind of midi mapping feature, however any preset can be saved in any location so this is not really too much of a problem. The unit operates in full stereo and has more than enough patches for saving your own presets but the factory presets are a good starting point. Also the fact that the factory presets are repeated is useful as you can overwrite a good number of them whilst retaining a second copy of each preset stored in one of the later banks. One or several parameters can also be controlled by an expression pedal which is useful.

Strymon Timeline

One of the best all round delay pedals on the market.Covers a lot of ground from simple slap back to huge ambient patches.Even does a pretty good analog sound as well.Very easy to program and to create your own patches. To be honest i cant really fault this as it sounds great and is easy to use.

OMG what a delay

I was amazed at the size of the foot print when I opened the box. I dont know why but I always expected this to be bigger than it is. Dont get me wrong this is a good thing I was just surprised.

It took around 30 mins of mucking around to get the hang of this pedal. The configurations and settings just took me a bit to get my head around but its all fairly easy really.

The delays sound amazing. The duel delay is just the dogs nuts really. I was also worried with this being a digital delay that it would sound hollow or just too clean like so many others. Well you can have that if you want but can also have a wide range of sounds to make it less digital and more analog if you want to go to the other extreme. Very versatile.

I am not sure I would use all of the delays on this the Hifi one isn't something I think I will get too much into but the ice and swell delays are fantastic. Makes you start thinking about ideas for songs that you never did before.

This is very expensive at the end of the day and you can't get around this. I saw that most of the 2nd hand units get snapped up really quickly so i wasn't worried if I didn't like it. That being said I think this has a full time slot on my pedal board for the foreseeable future.

A different world!

Before the Timeline I used my EHX MM Deluxe. It was a great delay, no doubt about it, but I bought the Timeline to be able to set my delay times to BPM.

Using the Timeline was like stepping into a new dimension. I have full control over everything. I can sit at home and dail in a perfect suiting delay for a song, save it and then just load it when it's time to rehearse/gig. Fantastic!

The only negative thing I can say about the Timeline is probably that you cannot assign the settings in the menu to the expression pedal, only the knob settings.

I kind of would like to be able to plug it to the computer to be able to create and arrange saved presents in a software, but the Timeline does not support features like this.

How about the sounds?

You guessed it. It sounds freaking awesome!

Strymon Forever And Ever Amen!

I started using Strymon pedals with Mobius and now I replaced my Flashback X4 with the Strymon Timeline. Where to start from? Flashback X4 by TC electronics is a great pedal and I've used it so much, but Timeline? Timeline is a whole new world. I have had it for a week so far and I haven't discovered not even 5% of what this pedal can do. It is more expensive by at least 150 than any other delay pedal, but I'm telling you, it's worth every penny. The quality of the sound is so good, it cuts through the mix, but it doesn't cover your tone, or alter your signal. All the little knobs on this pedal are so responsive and they change the sound exactly according to my needs. So far I haven't created many sounds of my own, because the default sounds in it are already so good. The Looper also works just fine and it's simple to use. It seems like a very difficult pedal to handle but it's really not. Just a quick study (2-3 mins) of the front page of the manual to get to know what every knob does and then it's really easy to do the rest. The size and weight of it are just fine as it is not as big as any other big delay pedals of the same category. Strymon forever and ever amen.

Superb delay with almost too many features!

This delay will do just about anything you can get in any other delay pedals...except...I also have the Strymon El Capistan and if you're looking for truly amazing tape-delay effects, nothing can touch the El Capistan.

But for crystal clear, digital delays through some weird 'special' effects to grungy, dirty analog type delays, the Timeline excels.

Excellent delay

This is simply the best delay! It has so many options and sounds that you can get

whatever you need from it. Also has midi implementation which is very convenient.

Strymon is a quality company. I owned one of their Brigadier pedals before this...also

a great delay.
