An excellent delay unit and looper.

As a delay stompbox, this is a premium purchase - you can certainly get more reasonably priced units for basic delays. But the sound, feature set and build quality make it worth the investment. Every type of delay is covered, and the parameters allow a huge amount of customisation. It can do everything from tape emulation to slapback to reverb-like ambience. This is the last delay unit you'll ever need! It also acts as a stereo looper. You'll need to use MIDI to access some of the looping functions such as reverse and half-speed. This is an excellent product.

All you need

Strymon are famous for making high quality and innovative products and with the timeline they truly have (in my humble opinion) set the industry standard in terms of pedal based delay units. With the timeline you receive 12 very high quality delay styles, that would comfortably compete with a studio quality rack mounted delay unit, amazing when you remember this is a stomp box we're talking about.

Apart from the great sounding delays, the pedal has a huge amount of brains as well. The pedal is MIDI compatible, has 100 banks for saving presets (2 presets per bank), there is a built in looper and can be control by an expression pedal also. These features add a tonne of versatility and programmability to a great product. There is not much you can't do with this pedal.

All my delay needs are covered.

Best digital Delay ever

I played a lot of Delays: Boss DD20, Line6 DL4, Vox Delaylab and this beats them all. Very musical sounding and user friendly. It´s quite expensive but worth every penny - you won´t regret this decision!

Great delay pedal with tonnes of options, maybe not 'analog sounding' enough for true purists though

This could be the best delay pedal ever (or not depending on your requirements). There are loads of options and control only over the most important parameters is given, allowing you to concentrate on your music rather than mindless programming. I don't think the analog recreations are the best in the world, but for all the convenience of having recallable memory locations, midi control and a digital readout for tempos (plus an inbuilt looper) this is great delay for me.

Extermely versatile delay/looper

Wow, this pedal has so much functionality and great quality too. It is easy to switch between the looper and banks of delay patches so you can record a loop using one type of delay and then change delay types and record/overdub another loop.

The delay sounds are lush. You can go from ultra clean digital delay to rich reverb type delays to weird modulated and reversed delay.

The only downside is that it takes quite a long time to really get into all the functionality as it does so much.

You can plug external expression/midi pedals into it to control any features you assign to it with ease.

Best delay pedal ever!

There has been a lot of hype about this pedal over the last number of years and in my eyes it has been completely justified. It comes loaded with any delay sound you could imagine, from tape delays, bucket delays, the works. Editing the patches is very simple, as you just click the save knob and can also rename them to your liking. The pedal itself is in a solid metal case and has great components that don't seem like they could be easily damaged. It has all the sounds I could ever want or need, and more. I can honestly say there isn't anything about the pedal that I dislike. The best part is that is has a tap tempo, which comes in handy. It is quite expensive in comparison to the go-to pedals from Boss and Electro-Harmonix but then again, you often see guitarists with more than one delay pedal on their boards. With this, you'll never need another. Sell all your delays and buy this one!

Handling:

First of all, it is highly recommended that you read the product manual before you're going to make your own sounds and presets. It takes a while to learn how the user interface works since there are so many parameters that you can tweak with this unit, but it's going to be a lot easier when you got it. Only thing that really bugs me is that you need a midi interface to update it's firmware, since it would be a lot easier using USB -connection.

Features:

I bought this unit mainly because of its features; There are so many types of delays onboard and you can change your presets via midi. You can also use a expression pedal to change multiple parameters once, which is very useful feature. It also has a looper which is great!

Sound:

This is where this unit really shines. All sounds I've tweaked sound really natural and analog - not digital or whatsoever. You can really push the limits of sound programming with it!

Quality:

I've owned many different Strymon products in the past they all have been very well built and really reliable.

Amazing pedal!!

So versatile, compact yet sounds like nothing i've ever had on my board. A definite game changer if you user multiple delays within a set. Or even in the studio this would be handy to use as outboard.

Excellent piece of kit - replaced Nova Delay. Delays enhance the sound of guitar and amp, not adding colour where it's not needed, but adding depth and a wonderful sound quality. Also easier than I thought it might be to modify and tweak different sounds plus save and name presets. I certainly prefer the sound to previous TC Electronics products I've used in the past.
