The best controller keyboard i ever had

Early arrival. Gorgeous finish. And very great hammer touch.

Works great for me

I use this in rehearsal room, and have the Grand version at home and for gigging, as I by far prefer the keybed in the Grand - but it is double price, so if you don't mind a regular keybed instead of state-of-the-art, then the Studio is great. The sticks works for me, but I don't use pitch bend, so I can live with the very short travel for the spring sticks. I like the settings and control that you can do with the programs, should cover most needs, if you depend on the keyboard as the controller of your setlist. I had to make a protecting foam layer when travelling (using a soft bag), as the sticks and the knob sticks out and tends to get bend or pressed during transportation.

Fantastic Mastering Keyboard

Its weighted keys feel just like a grand piano and it has all the functions you need. High Quality, small form factor. I use it mainly in the Studio but i would easily recommend it for gigs as well. In combination with a laptop or a tablet it can replace any stage piano.

Excellent feel but could have better build qualiity

Feels great to play but softer than a real piano. It also has a simplistic and clean aesthetic which was important to me (yes I'm vain). Overall the build quality is good with its sturdy metal housing, but unfortunately one of the keys already has an annoying clicking sound which is a shame as otherwise perfect.

Excellent midi-controller

A good quality, and surprisingly affordable, fully weighted midi-controller. Would recommend it to anyone who needs a versatile controller for studio or live use. If your primarily piano-focused, look for the SL88 Grand for that premium piano feel - if you play a variety of different sounds - piano, electric piano, synth, and so on... and want a fully weighted experience; in my book - this SL88 Studio is the way to go

Watched many reviews about different midi keyboards in this price range before buying. Many said that this keybed can be a little bit too heavy, but for me it feels great. I can't say it's too heavy and if I remember correctly the Yamaha P-45 felt stiff, keys didn't come up as fast as they do on SL88 studio. Overall the keys are relatively quiet also, I think that even my computer keyboard makes more noise.

Build quality is good, metal body and so on. The sustain pedal that is included is stiff and because of that I keep using my old M-Audio SP2. Velocity readings have been solid for me and no problems regarding to that also.

I think it has a good quality and price ratio overall and I'm happy with it.

using this with Roland KSC-70 stand. all fits fine

only issue is keys are a bit heavy, as seen in other people's reviews on youtube

This piano is quite good, but because I'm in China, I can get the goods in almost a month, which will take a long time. The feel of this MIDI keyboard is very good, that is, there is no MIDI wire. I think it's generally good. The logistics shows that I can get it in 8-15 days. It's good to get the goods when I buy goods on the website for the first time. I'll buy it again next time.

Amazing keyboard

The keyboard feels great and responsive, not so hard not so soft, it is ideal for me. The three joysticks are extremely useful and can increase the expressivity so much. I like this concept, that no unnecessary thing built into this keyboard, but what was built in that is extremely useful and cool. The building quality also great.

Good

use it for piano practice.

the handling is satisfying with its FATAR keyboard, better than a lot barget acoustic pianos. and also you can practice without much noice with headphone.

Not familiar with its MIDI functions.

So far so good. I think its quality control is getting better than before.

so generally recommend for buying with this price.

An amazing keyboard for the home studio

I bought this to replace a Casio Privia PX 150, which was not communicating MIDI information properly. The SL88 is amazing, the keys feel great and overall the product works like a charm, there is virtually no setup required to start using it. I have tried multiple MIDI keyboards before and this one beats them all.

I use it for composition and performance and am very happy with it, can't think of any cons. I highly recommend this product.

This is great.

I bought this 3 months ago and now I have carpal tunnel syndrome on both sides. I had some trouble where Ableton wouldn't find it ever so often, but it's over since 11. Easy to set up, the keys feel amazing and it does exactly everything it promises it will. 10/10 my favorite keyboard.

Great value

I'm a classical pianist and got this keyboard mainly as a midi controller for orchestral vsti with an option to sketch piano parts without needing to use my main piano controller. And I'm very happy with the purchase.

It's a quality construction and the action is more than adequate for any use. I'm using it now exclusively and haven't felt the need to switch to my stage piano to improve piano part performances.

The control options offered are fantastic, allowing up to 4 channels to be controlled at a time, fully programmable, layered, split or any combination, with different key response and joystick/pedal assignments per channel. You can connect up to 2 switches and another 2 expression pedals, full midi in/out interface with an option to merge the input and send it either to the midi out or usb, all very useful features.

The action itself is a bit sluggish but not in a way that would prohibit fast playing as some reviews claim. I've yet to find something that I can't play on this instrument and I've tried some of the most demanding classical pieces on it. Noise wise, I find it relatively quiet. There is some noise of course, but it's soft and low pitched and not as unpleasant as in most mid-low tier digital piano actions.

A big part of how the action feels comes down to audio feedback and the default tuning is pretty slow for most vsti. Switching to the soft preset or making your own through the accompanying editor reveals a very enjoyable instrument. This is the exact same action used in Keylab 88 and KK S88 after all.

Finally the joysticks. It's like having 3 mod wheels and 3 pitch bends, all programmable. I like that a lot. The springy ones for pitch bend type control are perfectly fine. The free ones for mod control will require some brain adjustment but they're serviceable. Once you adapt to the small movements and minimal force required, they get the job done. It's down to you if you'll end up liking them more than a traditional wheel though; I suspect most people won't.

All in all for the money this is a fantastic piece of kit. 88 hammer action keys with aftertouch, 3 dual axis programmable joysticks, 4 pedal inputs, midi i/o, 4 simultaneously active fully programmable zones per preset, virtually infinite presets and editor software that allows customizing every aspect of the action. So much to like in this instrument. Highly recommended.

Excellent product for the price!

This is one of the best midi controllers out there, the key feeling is something i didn't expect at this price range!

You can just plug it with a usb cable on the computer and it's ready to go, it has multiple pedal input to control different parameters(I personally use the pedal as: Sustain, Sound Switch with the boss FS-5U and volume control with the StudioLogic VP-27 all connected to the gig performer)

The only cons i found is that is not too clear in the manual on how to use it with the program that it comes with the keyboard to customize it.

In conclusion, after some months of using it i can say it worth the money!
