StudioRTA Producer Cart Reviews
Fantastic cart at a great price
This cart has exceeded my expectations. Sturdily built, great quality wheels and quite spacious. In the thumbnail it appears to be a little more square than it actually is, which (despite measuring beforehand) still surprised me. Very easy to assemble, components feel pretty solid and ample rack space. My only nitpick would be the metal could be a little sturdier and the grating a little thicker. Genuinely wish I'd picked this up before - will likely pick up another one in the future!
Well built, except for one crucial aspect
The unit is very solid and sturdy. However, that doesn't count for much when the rack strip has misaligned holes and the screws are of poor quality. I ended up ditching mine. Money down the drain!
Well built !
I ordered this for some of my audio gear to mount it. After a year or two of having it I found that I've only got 4 pieces of equipment in it. So I installed 19" shelves in it and they fit perfectly for some of my analogue tape audio gear.
It is HUGE!
I was stupid enough no to check the dimensions. On the photo it looks close to the cubic shape, but it is far from true, it is extremely deep, and I dont see any reason for that. It is much much deeper than any rack device I ever seen in my life. Otherwise good product.
A very good quality, stable, easy working with and good looking cart which is already helpful part in my studio!
Very nice and sturdy, you can even sit on it, which i dont recommend, but i recommend the rack!
Good basis for a desk or Rack, little hard to fit rackgear because the narrow holes...
does its job attractive bit of studio furniture got two now in my studio
StudioRTA Producer Cart
The cart is quite stable and sturdy. I like that the wood parts are heavy and massive - gives it even more stability. The only downside is that the rack rail holes are slightly out of place thus your mounted gear is going to be a little out of place. Still very pleased with the purchase!
Rack mounting holes are badly alligned
The rack mounting holes are (very) badly alligned. They are too close together so that some devices cant fit in it or that you have to leave an empty space between 2 devices in the center
Nice piece of furniture
It's a nice piece of furniture for studio and also for home. For the last 2 years, this was my favourite rack for home use :) I recommend it!
I think for this price it should be in every studio, home, project, even pro.. Quality wise its OK, easy to install and seems sturdy. It can take a big load on both sides upper/lower and a ton of secondary gear like patchpoints, soundcards, midis etc, stuff you dont have to look directly or manipulate (like synths) because the rack rails are quite low for such tasks.
could be better.......
This is a good sized sturdy unit let down by the awful rackstrip and bolts. Unlike any other...worse than cage nuts, Hard to position rack equipment, you may end up losing one rack space to get your gear to fit. But for this would be a great unit, I managed to get my stuff in but it was not easy and it is a very stable unit. wheels are cheap looking but function ok.
Sturdy build quality but some negatives.
The item came flat packed and was reasonable easy to put together. The first thing that struck me was the size. It's deeper than I expected. Of course I knew the measurements but still, it's considerable deeper than I had envisioned. Which turned out to be a good thing as it's only barely deep enough to have room for all the cables coming out from various gear. The build quality feels solid. And the wheels are very nice and smoooth. It's easy to move around even when fully loaded and the wheels do not scratch or damage the floor in any way. But there are a few negative points... First the finish. The maple imitation boards that were used for top and bottom had slight blemishes in the corners. Seemed like the kind of swelling you get when MDF panels have been exposed to water. I was only VERY slight but still... The boards were also not completely straigh. They both seemed to have been under some kind of pressure and bended slighty downwards at the center. Not a big deal to me but I would have expected better from a brand new product. Also the kind of rack rails used on this cart aren't very good to be honest. It's not the usual rack nut system that most 19 inch rack used. Instead it's just fixed holes that you screw directly into. I can imagine them getting worn out and useless over time and then the whole cart is garbage. And of course the holes are not precisely enough drilled so you end up with every rack unit being slightly "off centre". This is adding up as you mount more gear until it is no longer possible to hit the holes with screw. I had to leave 1u unused in the middle of the rack because of this. And even then I struggled to get my gear to fit. So although advertised as 14u you will get MAXIMUM 13u into this rack. Really dissappointing!!! The system of using fixed holes in the rack rails also makes it difficult to mount the gear without help. When using rack nuts it's easy to finger tighter the screws enough to secure the gear. Not so here. You basically need a screwdriver from the first turn. So try juggling an LA-2A, a screwdriver and a screw... Needless to say I dropped some expensive gear while trying to mount it alone. I really don't understand why they didn't use the standard and far superior solution of rack nuts. Really, really stupid!!! If I had purchased this item locally I would have returned it and demanded a refund. However, dismantling it, re-packaging, dragging it back to the post office, shipping back to Germany and having to apply for a VAT refund (as I'm outside the EU) just seemed too much of a hassle. And after everything was mounted it does work really nice. So I guess I'm reasonably happy with it, although FAR from a perfect product and not really as specified.
Great studio rack and inexpensive too.
I bought this to house a rack computer, thon power conditioner and a host of preamps, synth modules and other processing gear. I have it placed alongside my main desk (which was adjusted to match the height of the producer cart). Overall very happy with the purchase. The unit is extremely well built and it's extremely easy to rack items as the rail strips are threaded. The castors are equally useful whenever I need to pull the unit out and do a bit of reorganisation of cable routing. Also my 01V mixer sits nicely on top. Highly recommended, solid unit at a great price.
Studio Ready To Amaze
I've been looking for a furniture that can hold my rackable gear for a long time, but since i moved in with my girlfriend, beside value/price, design also became a factor. Most rack boxes protect your stuff, but don't look so good doing it, especially in a living room with furniture. I mean REAL furniture, nice stuff, next to which a bare metal skeleton holding a bunch of cold slabs of hardware with flickering lights and protruding knobs just looks, well, sh*t. Studio furniture that look good are usually expensive - like any other quality furniture and more. Our living room is really small, so besides looking nice, it had to be small, but roughly the same height as the IKEA table it would stand next to. The StudioRTA Producer Cart fit the requirements the best. Assembly wasn't difficult at all, but the package is heavy, so handle it with care! One small criticism: the black panels on the side are FIXED to the columns. This should not be a problem, but occasionally you do have to reach inside to the rear of the instruments, amps etc. to pull out a cable or whatever. If it were not fixed, i wouldn't have installed it, at least not on both sides. But otherwise, i highly recommend this to anyone with the same needs as myself.
Great Little Rack but the panel at the back seems counter intuitive...
Great litt rack, but the pannel on the back blocks access to the units so don't install that untill you know you're rack is complete, (read as throw it away ;) ) Otherwise great fits the studio like a glove, good size and weight. Overall worth every penny! Also functions as Lava Lamp holder - But that wasn't in the manual.
Not sure about it...
For 100 euros, you get 14U. But instead of a studio rack, this could be anything else. I mean that the holes are so close to each other that IF one (or -even worst- more) racks are a little bit bigger (like my MOTU 896HD which is 0.000001 mm bigger) you'll have serious problem. Also, try to forget heavy bass or a sub system near to it, as the iron sides are giving you some "sweet" harmonics. You win a big space to work on and this is a plus. In general it's good for what you pay. I'll think twice before I end up with another one thoughâ¦
Great product!
This product is ideal if you want sturdy and usable 19" rack with desktop. It is a good size, as it is a similar height to many standard height desks. I managed to fit my amplifier (3U), some noise gates (1U each), a computer base (4U) and my rack cd player (3U) into the unit, still having some some space left over. The Studio RTA range is easy to assemble. The wheels are good quality and two of them are lockable too, so you can stop the desk from moving around too much. The plastic coating on the work surface melted on mine when I left a candle on it, so you need to be careful with heat.
Close to being a great product
Quick to build and very sturdy but unfortunately ruined by the poor screw holes on the rack area, none of the screws fit the holes.
