Superlux MS 200 Reviews
Excellent overhead stands!
These stands are great. Hefty and sturdy. Your boom won't collapse by weight with these stands for sure. You can use them to hang your overhead mics from or to drape curtain or duvets over to tame room acoustics. Excellent items for the price!
If you don't have one you're no one.
Insane value for the money, and I have yet to find out why all the other stands cost so much. Seriously, buy it.
It is great but SO heavy !
It is a very high reach microphone boom stand. When I say very high, it can go over 4.5m high. This is ideal for overheads, recording a choir, a brass ensemble and various other applications. It has a down side though : it is VERY heavy too.
Mine fell once and it had the effect of a sledgehammer. It fell on laminate flooring and left a big round mark on it. Its own weight smashed plastic parts in the fall. The weight is one issue and because of this, it makes it awkward to handle too. Allow some room to manoeuvre in any rooms/ studio and also in your car.
Build quality is very good and the weight makes is feel very reliable but ironically, is letting itself down at the same time.
The price is great for what it is, I would recommend it and I might buy more in the future.
great but heavy
Good stand, great price.
I use it with t-bar for stereo recordings.
The stand is big and sturdy, the biggest mic stand I ever saw. Also very heavy.
Very good stand - quality feel
If you need a tall stand for choir/orchestra work, then this has a great feel about it.
Amongst other uses I plan to use it with my Zoom H6 and it will be very suitable for this. Very heavy so no topple effect!
Good microfone stands
If you feel it is important to have maximum flexibility in placing OH microfones, these work really well.
Pros: Did speed up my setup because I didn't have to worry about the stands falling over and really easy to align and they have a long reach. Good design and robust built.
Missing: wheels could be nice, A little smaller version for smaller studios would be useful.
Strong and tall
I bought this for recording choirs, brass bands, organs and the like, and it seems very robust, stable and well constructed - excellent value. I will keep the box to protect it - and the car as it is quite long when folded down. It is quite heavy but that adds to the stability and I don't mind carrying it.
always superlux
I've never been disappointed using Superlux products neither this time. I was looking for a sturdy studio michrophone stand, which can handle heavy microphone and meantime is flexible. I found this as an additional option for well known K&M stand. For a surprise it is not worse as a K&M analog. Maybe the plastics could be better, but if you use it responsible no problems could happen. Best quality for the price, guaranteed.
Very good solid stand
This stand is amazing value for money. Rock solid and no drooping. Lots of adjustment too and very long boom with counter weight - which is fixed at the back end so it can;t fall off.
Highly recommend
Took a chance on a pair of these thinking they weren't much of a risk at such a low price. Turned out to be some of the best mic stands we've ever had. The adjustable counter-weight makes it incredibly stable even with heavy mics for drum overheads etc. Have been using these for months now and they have never slipped during a session. Amazing value. Should they ever break we will these again.
Heavy
The stand is huge and heavy. It's stable. I gave a lower rating for quality because the boom arm is bent (a long, gentle curve) and probably never should have got through a quality control check. That's only an aesthetic problem in any case. I will use it for a range of purposes such as overhead mic but also lighting for video/photography. I read other reviewers descriptions of the weight but didn't pay enough attention - it's heavy!
Massive stands for serious work
These stands are extremely well built, and can sure carry the weight they're supposed to in any configuration of extension of the boom arm. The images don't do them justice in terms of detail and features IMO.
As stated before, even when "packed" they are extremely large (easily 1.8m) and you could have trouble lugging them around. A compact car will not do, I've had to pull back the seats on my station wagon to get them in, other than that I would absolutely recommend them for any serious studio (or even live) work.
Incredible value for money!
If you need a big, heavy-duty stand you won't find better - at any price. For the money it's an absolute steal.
Very stable and robust and will support pairs of heavy mics with no hint of 'sag'.
BUT don't think you'll slip this into the back of your family hatchback. It's big and heavy.
Completely recommended as offering exceptional quality and value for money.
best deal
not too heavy !! this gigantic stand is great for room mics, drum overheads and outdoor recording.
very stable and great value for money
Its huge -- but its fantastic
This stand is heavy duty, no its very heavy duty. It's massive!. It's really well made and easy to setup. I use it to support my sE SPACE reflection filter. And it's so CHEAP .....
I want to buy another one.
Stable
Great for getting big mice up high. We hang a £4000 AEA mic from ours and it feels totally safe
Sturdy, huge, great stand
This is a very big stand. It is also very very sturdy, I would be completely comfortable hurling bricks at it from across the room, and I doubt it would fall over even fully extended. The counterweight works great. All the joints are smooth and hold in place well.
Not much more to say- if you want to stand a heavy mic high up, you need one of these guys.
A good heavy-duty stand
I use the stand for my drum overhead mics. It's very heavy duty so I would guess it'll hold a load a lot heavier than a couple of microphones. The boom arm is long enough for this purpose so there are no problems, and the height of the stand should be quite enough for any normal-sized room. The tripod base does take up a fair bit of room, and can be somewhat laborious to adjust in cramped spaces, so this may not be the best stand for very small rooms or stages. Otherwise it's simple to operate and reasonably priced.
Solid and heavy!
I was surprised when I took it out of the box! Built like a tank and large! On one of these these I can hang two Coles 4038 (more than a kilo each and sensitive, you do NOT want them to drop) or easily handle a Neumann U87 up in the air, goes without effort up to 3m+ It is the stuff bigger studios are made of, and a bit over the top for my livingroom. Extremely priceworthy, you trust then with your expensive microphones even if people are running around the set. If people collide with them, they will get bruises, not tipping over your stuff...
Though it would be flimsy for the price
This stand is HEFTY, really tall and heavy, it's appropriate for high room micing. I expected a really sub-par product for £35 I literally don't know how they're making money on this product. Excellent, just beware it's really big not like a regular mic stand, might be hard to transport.
