Huge stable monster stands!
I love these! I couldn't believe their size when they arrived (I bought two). For the money they are such great value. I have space so didn't need to worry about the footprint (no C Stands here!). They are currently being used as long boom arms for overhead mics although I have used them fully extended up strapped to a church pillar to light a wedding in the past as well as to hang backgrounds from! Not sure I'd want to transport them much but if you need something on this scale these are really flexible.
HUGE but oh so good.
This tripod is HUGE and heavy. It was quite a bit bigger than expected, but that is not a bad thing. It is very stable, can reach up to ridiculous heights, and keeps the microphone exactly where it needs to be. Very stable!
Super steady and super heavy but can improve
Best for hanging overhead mic. I hang my tube mic T.bone SCT2000. But the counterweight holds it horizontally up to the middle. I wanted to put it far at the end so i wish the counterweight was double as heavy
What a great stand! I wanted something sturdier for my drum overheads and it's perfect.
INCREDIBLE QUALITY AND BUILT FOR THE PRICE
AMAZED by this stand. It's a beast. I use it for my overheads mics on my drum kit as well as awkward micing in filming situation. I still can't believe how good and how cheap this is.
Strong and stable
Very good stand for the money.
Strong and stable and has lasted a very long time.
For context, I only use this in a recording studio and so I haven't been gigging it or throwing it in and out of a tour bus.
But, I am fairly sure it would last even then :-)
Very good.
Amazing quality at a Bargain Price!
I purchased two of these monster stands for my home Drum Studio, as I wanted my pair of LCD (Avantone CK7) mic's to be securely placed for long term, without any drooping issues etc.. and these stands have performed beautifully so far, they are permanently fixed at ceiling height with the boom arms extended a fair way, with no stability issues at all.
Great Value!
I was looking for an overhead mic stand for filming interviews, and boy was I amazed by the size and quality of this stand. This kit will not look out of place in any professional environment, and for the money it’s amazing value.
Works great
Very stable and heavy, great one for the money!
Rock solid AND affordable
For the price there is possibly no tall mic stand as stable as this one. It built like a tank and weight just about the samie - perfect if you want to place overhead or room mics once and not worry about them slowly glide down over time. The arm is very long, too, so you can place the whole thing where it is most convenient for everybody and still get the mic in position. We put it permanently in a single spot in our band practice space to hold OH drum mics and it works like a charm. The only issue might be that it is not really usable live, unless you have A LOT of space in your car. Even when fully folded it is super long, so fitting it in a car trunk is harder than it might seem. For studio use (or as a permanent live mic stand at a club) it is perfect, though.
Solid heavyweight stands
Love these mic stands - huge reach, very stable. Counter weights slide to match overhang, and can lock out at point of balance so no force on the swivel causing sag or movement, whatever the weight of mic or it's overhang. Still look new, used loads. Recommended !
Very sturdy
Very big and sturdy!
It takes up a-lot of space, so wouldn't be suitable for small studio's.
It will last for ever, very good quality, heavy duty and does the job.
Don't stub your toes on it though, that hurts!
I've had this stand several years now, and it is excellent. Will cope with a my big sE G2 valve mic, allowing me to suspend the mic above vocalists
Flipping Eck!
so.. bought these... thinking they would do a better job of supporting my LDC at a distance... erm... these things can do that in spades... they are huge though... definitely made for overheads... I didn't realise the minimum height was about 5ft...(THATS THE MINIMUM) and they go basically to as tall as you can imagine... and can support the LDC at a distance of about 2 metres... and still be study... thats mega impressive...
Pro's
Sturdy as 'eck
Supports a LDC at a distance
Cons
This is huge
Really heavy
Sturdy and versatile overhead mic stand...
I have only used this mic stand a few times, but am very pleased with the product. It is quite heavy (hence 4 stars for handling), but I guess it needs to be, in order to give it stability. The range of heights that are possible, and the impressive reach of the boom arm, make this a very versatile overhead mic stand. I'm using it to hold a pair of overhead drum mics, but it could easily be used for a choir.
Excellent budget OH stands
I have now got 3 of these form my choir/ string ensemble recording rig.
Good height and reach and an excellent price.
They fit into the back of my Qashqai when collapsed and the seats are folded, so transport is not too much of an issue, but they are heavy to carry (heavy counterweight).
My only criticisms are the pivot for the boom does not have a positive lock, so it is important to tighten the knob and also move the balance weight to counterbalance your microphone and the reach.
It is also easy to bash your fingers (or parts of the male anatomy) with the counterweight on the boom arm when carrying the stand - I use a large Velcro strap around the legs and boom to keep them bundled together.
I also use vinyl black and yellow striped sandbags on the legs when they are set up (cheap photo light ones are ok) they make the base more stable and the legs visible to wandering audience/performers.
These stands are quite slim and not too obtrusive. I have used one behind and above a conductor carrying a stereo bar for mid/side recording without comment from audience.
Not as sophisticated as some stands, and you can see where cost has been saved, but for the semi-pro recording engineer I really recommend getting one or two. Difficult to beat at the price
really good stands for the money
just got 2 of these to use as OH stands. But holy cow. I was surprised of the build quality of these. Heavy dutie stands that seems very rigid. I have some heavy microphones that I use for some other duties in our rehearsal room/studio that I have been afraid of using on smaller flimsy stands. I can tell you now that these stands will see more action than just as OH.
There is a small movement in the joint where the boom is,but it is very small, and I don't think it will be a problem..
The screw locks is good and locks on thight once you find your position so I don't expect any sagging taking place.
I'm very happy with my purchase. If they will stand (no pun intended) the test of time, well. only time can tell..
Wow, great product
I have a couple large diaphragm condenser mics and shutter everytime I had to put them on a regular mic stand. This stand awesome
Very Very good stand, heavy and stable!!!
