Hohner Performer Melodica 37 Black
Based on 4 reviews
This Melodica is completely identical in shape and tone to the Hohner Superforce 37 I bought at the same time, for which I have already written a lengthy review. My opinion of this instrument is near identical too so I have duplicated the bulk of the text. I have played the Banjo for years and fancied something portable and fun. to get away from Tablature and learning by ear. I can now read music a bit more and am practicing to get better with this melodica. I also have a soft spot for accordions and harmonicas> Melodicas are the perfect middle ground, plus they are cheap and cheerful. Hohner invented Melodicas in their modern incarnation and so I decided to buy one of their brand. The instrument is well made, and plays in tune. There are no dud notes, which I had read could be an...
Suzuki M-37C Plus Melodion
Based on 1 reviews
I was undecided between getting the Yamaha P-37D Pianica and the Suzuki M-37C Plus, and after a couple of months I can say I'm more than happy I went for the latter. The melodica itself is really well made and looks and feels like a quality instrument with the metal corpus. It comes with a pretty handy softshell carry bag and one "goose neck" mouthpiece. What's most important though is the sound quality, of course. Does it outclass higher end Hammond melodions? Probably not, but it produces clear, consistend tones and certainly sounds like a proper instrument and not a toy. It also arrived in good tune out of the box. I recommend you check out some YouTube videos to hear the direct comparison with the Yamaha - personally I prefer the cleaner, more straightforward tune vs the...

Hohner invented Melodicas in their modern incarnation and so I decided to buy one of their brand. The instrument is well made, and plays in tune. There are no dud notes, which I had read could be an issue in other Melodicas. That said, like a lot of companies, Hohner's manufacturing is outsourced to China and I can't help but notice that this instrument is structurally identical to many £20 offerings from other brands to the extent of identical...
Walther Melodica Black
Based on 4 reviews
For the price, is not a bad melodica. I was a little bit scheptical about this one, because it didn't have any comments or ratings and no reviews online, but I took the risk. In the first day it worked perfectely, however, on the second, it started showing some problems playing some notes. After a while it started working ok again. It probably needed to warm up eheh xD it comes with its own case, mouth piece and tube, wich is nice. I bought an extra tube, just in case, but they both work fine, virtually no leakage. The only problem I have with it is that the second A is way tougher to blow than the rest of the other notes, otherwise, it's fine. That, and some minor tuning issiues, if you listen really closely. So, overall, it's a good first melodica, if you don't want to spend a lot...
Hohner Student Melodica 32 Black
Based on 9 reviews
Despite of low price, Hohner Student 32 is a good quality melodica for a beginner or even for an advanced player. It's very versatile: you can play it as a normal melodica using the ergonomic curved mouthpiece or you can use it like a very compact keyboard on the table using the provided long flex mouthpiece. The plastic hard case looks like a simple tool case but offers a very good protection. I love the sound quality and the response is good. Hohner melodica does not require much air to produce a tone, so this is very suitable also for children. Obviously playing chords requires more breath. There are slight tuning issues with some reeds but all in all the Hohner quality is good. Seems that there is some variation, however, because I ordered two melodicas and their response and...
Hohner Fire Melodica 32

This is a good instrument if a litle shoddily made. I like the sound and the responsiveness as it lends to a quality live/recording to. Tuning was not perfect but very vibey. All in all a good buy. I used the melodica on an Irish tour and found the instrument to be very capable of filling the room with out too much amplification needed. A bit of verb was nice. In Studio I played a little off the mic and found it to be a rounded sound - usful i mnay ways and perfectly suitable for soem EQ workings. The best feature is the repsoniveness of the keys. Lending itself well to complex melodic lines - an almost eastern/arabic melody - or an Irish trad melody can be pulled off using trills on the fast moving keys. Good fun and recommended.
