High quality bass

It took me almost two years before I decided to purchase this bass. It has been on my wish list for a long time. The reasons why I hesitated were the price and the sound samples I found on Youtube.

I did not really hear the sound of a double bass until I saw a few videos online. So it was possible to resemble a double bass!

When I received my Takamine bass, the setup was harsh. A high action. So I used a saw and a veil to make it more playable.

The sound was OK but not enough like a double bass. I still had a David Gage Realist Copperhead pick up and installed it on my Takamine.

Then the fun started. The sound was getting a lot closer to a double bass by bypassing the built in electronics. No battery problems either.

The built in pickup along with the electronics provide a wide variety of sounds but a little too clean and fretless. I wanted the raw double bass sound. With the realist this gets very close.

The build quality is outstanding. This bass will last for decades or more. It looks great. It is quiet heavy but way lighter than a double bass.

Unique top quality instrument

I bought this for a specific job, but have now been using it for a couple years. This bass has proved to be hugely popular with many types of bands, both because of its convincing double bass sound and great looks. I quickly gave up using it on the spike, but it works perfectly on the strap in normal guitar position.

Only minor problem has been feedback in some situations, but manageable with either use of the tone control or amp position.
