Tama HP310LW Speedcobra Double Reviews
Very smooth
The double pedal feels very smooth and light, takes some getting used to but plays like a dream. I'm using it on an e-kit though, so had to swap the beaters out as they're very heavy and very noisy. It's less adjustable than its more expensive sibling but it's still a very good double pedal.
Good pedal, but would not do it again.
The pedal is well built and is fairly easy to play, but it lacks some adjustment features. Also, it comes with crappy beaters and no cobra coils. I would definitely go for the higher end version, the 915 or even better, the Trick Dominator.
An amazing long board pedal
This is an amazing longboard pedal. The springs were a bit wonky on mine, meaning something felt off with them. If you switched them out I am sure it would be a nearly perfect pedal but it just was not for me. Loads of adjustments, very light, very fast.
Super double pédale
J'utilise la double pédale pour certains concerts.
De plus je l'utilise également avec mon e-drums 'millenium MPS-850 E, c'est super
Awesome mid tier pedal
I bought it to upgrade over my Tama HP30 that came with the drumset and to try out double pedals.
Very smooth, great beater sound, easily adjustable too fit any drumkit.
The long footboard makes it very easy to do heel and toe and feels like it gives you extra power on the kick.
Good for the cash
Great pedal to start out with and its good for professional use aswell.
Just a normal pedal
Nothing impressive. Good it comes with a key becouse a thicker key can not fit all bolts, particularly on the beater adjustment. Simple pedal which I like, well done, good manufacture, not too heavy and easy to work with it. Long board not mine choice, the movement is oily and not defined. Good beaters, light and nice coat. If you think they are short pull up the bass drum a bit. The fixed spring nut is stable and good idea by TAMA, BUT really difficult to adjust till you get your tension, because you must remove the pedal and pull the spring hard and painfull 1000 times, but you can turn in other side or change it with the upper nut which is more practical in deed. Uper nut is usless and hinder if you want a tight spring. You can adjust the length of the chain, but you have to cut it .Generally any cheap pedal does the same. Not mine pedal.
Great entry/intermediate double pedal
The pedals are great for the price. Nothing un-usual from Tama. The feel of the pedals are great, you can tell right away that the material used are of high quality. The beaters are very sturdy, you can use the felt or the plastic side. Tension of the pedal, angle of the beater and the length of the beater are all customisable which provide you with lots of customisation options.
I took one star as the left pedal's board is slightly misaligned and I can't adjust it (or maybe I haven't figured it out yet). It's no big deal though. Overall, great product.
Excellent Product!
Excellent product from Tama as usual, I couldn't fault it. The build quality is amazing. I use it with my acoustic and electric kits and it works perfect with both. Highly recommended!
Great for the price
Now, this isn't the "perfect" pedal, but has served me well for 2 years and I still have no problems with it. It's not super expensive, it has alot of features and it's a great pedal all around.
If (when) I were to buy new pedals, I would still stick with Tama Speedcobra honestly. They just feel great. However, they released a new series in 2016, and I would go with the Tama Speedcobra HP910LWN. Maybe even their new 2019 pedal, The Dyna-Sync Direct Drive.
I wouldn't go for these again, but they were my first set of double pedals and I've learned ALOT on them, and the quality is definitely great for it's price.
You wouldn't regret buying this, and if you're on a low budget but don't want the best high end stuff yet, this is indeed what you definitely want. If you don't mind spending a couple extra bucks, go for the more expensive series from Tama.
Nice pedal, but there are better options
Alright, I'm not new into drumming, so I think I have some insight. Basically this is a good pedal, but I have some gripes with it. Mainly - it is not as responsove as you'd expect, so it takes a little bit more work while playing. The footboard is quite heavy and it makes it harder to play faster tempos. Sometimes for me it was easier to get where I want with a 69 euro Millenium pedal and I have tried a lot of settings and changing beaters, springs, angles. Other than that, the build quality is decent and it looks cool. But I wouldn't really call it a 'Speed' Cobra.
Great value for money
I still cant believe these pedals are being sold at such a good price. They do not have the specs of the 910s, but if you're a beginner - like me, then they are more than enough.
They are upgradeable too - you can add the cobra coils.
Super fast response
Awesome pedal. My son loved it from the first time.
Speed CObra
Probably the best and relatively affordable double pedal out there!
The only con (if one can call it that) is that I was a little surprised to find in the box no springs for the rebound of the pedal. All specs and reviews I read pointed out they (the springs) are part of the set. However, they are sold separately and if my drummer makes his mind I'll get them.
Other than that - fast, precise and loud! What more ?! :)
I'm amazed
I bought the pedal a month ago in March of 2017. I previously used a budget pedal and now I know that pedal held me back in developement. By using Speedcobra now for one month all I can say I'm amazed!
I had to set up, practice and adjust the bass drum's head a couple of time to be able to play as I feel but now, after one month I can clearly say that Speedcobra worth every eurocent.
It's different than other pedals due to the longboard but it's true, Speedcobra is fast, accurate and comfy. Now just after one month I can play grooves, songs, technical patterns I previously couldn't with my old budget pedal. And it isn't just about the amount of time I spent on practicing. A good hardware really matters! Especially if it's Tama quality.
I recommend Speedcobra but keep in my mind that you should be patient for the first time because it feels a bit different than the conventional pedals. But once you get the feeling of it the reward is huge!
