The Dogs Bollocks
Great speakers for the price point
The best of the series
Got them all three, and for nearfield this one has the best dispersion, still great bass and better HF because of the same unit as found in the 8 inch version but closer to the front. Price is ridiculous, stereo is firm and reliable, amps are good. For tracking the 8 inch has a bit more headroom, for mixing this became my favorite. Also great in the living room.
Wonderful Set of Monitors
I bought this monitors a year back, during confinement so I could have a proper non-headphone monitoring solution at home. I had thought about going for the Gold 5 at the time, but since they were sold out I went for the 7s.
Results will vary according to space and placement, but I've found them to be quite good sounding, with an even response and great sound separation in stereo imaging. Being front-ported and having the dual concentric build also helps eliminate any phasing issues you might have between woofer and tweeter heights relative to listening position, which can sometimes be problematic, specially in smaller rooms.
In general, I've found them amazing not only for mixing, but also for listening to movie soundtracks and effects more closely and I would seriously recommend this to anyone looking for a good budget friendly set of monitors, or just someone wanting to improve their home listening experience.
Very good
I have not much experience, but these monitors really changed my feeling of sound. I think it's really best choice for newbies.
absolutely the right monitor
This is the best monitor I've listened to. in this price range, I accept it as a favor made by Tannoy to us and here I express my thanks to Tannoy company. As a simple listener, I achieved musical details that I have not heard before, I realized the organic details in the vocals, I felt the intensity of the acoustics.
The quality of the material used, the ease of access and use of the keys are magnificent with its stand-by mode.
As a result, I recommend that you definitely experience these handsome monitors, even if you do not have it, have a close friend buy it, at least a couple in your close circle. You will feel this attraction too.
ideal studio monitor
use these speakers in my bedroom studio. I found it very useful for my mixing and mastering works. Although there is no acoustic arrangement in my room, they do a good job. especially low mid frequencies are very successful. I can hear very clearly without disturbing high frequencies. the speakers are made of an ideal material quality, I really like the images, it's a quality product. I can say the best that can be bought in this price range. There is a fast transient response, the input level setting on the front and the knobs that you can cut and open the high frequencies are quite high quality and functional, the frequency response at -10 db is in the 46hz-20Khz range, so the low frequency response is quite satisfactory, I don't feel the need for a subwoofer. The only thing I can say negatively is that if you are working at very high dbs, you can feel the air coming out of the front port, also a certain level of limiter is activated. The amp HİSS noise is not at all annoying levels, and if you reduce the input level without having a constant noise sound, the HİSS noise will decrease.
high quality products, have cost performance.
Great sound
I had two vintage Tannoy Little Red Monitors from the late 70's, the Gold 7 remind me of them. The sound has a lot of character and presence. Great for everything you could be working on in the studio. Love them.
WOOOOW
This is exactly what I was looking for for my studio, I have a pair of Focal Alpha 80 and the Tannoy Gold 7 complement them perfectly, especially in the mid-low-mid range, the Tannoy have the balls that my Focal's were missing. Honestly, I don't have the time to be so detailed in describing the pros and cons, but the only thing I can tell you is that they are very good quality speakers, even if they are the only monitors in your studio, you will have a balanced, precise and clear sound for any type of music, that is perhaps what I like the most about these Tannoys, they sound very good in all types of music.
Great monitors for the price
I've been using the same monitors to mix and master for a long time, so moving to something different would take some time to get used to I thought. Moving from my conventional 2-way monitors to a dual-concentric arrangement was another risk I suppose, but I have to say it has paid off.
The Tannoy Gold 7 have been a breath of fresh air and I love the clarity of image and detail provided by the dual-concentric speakers. There's plenty of bass extension which seems smooth contributing to an overall pretty flat sound. All of this depends on what you are mixing I guess, but I am really surprised how good they sound at the price-point.
Other features are useful - having an attenuater and HF trim on the front is really useful. My monitors are positioned on the desktop on a pair of Fluid de-couplers, so they are close to the wall. I'm using the bass adjustment on the rear to accommodate this, which works perfectly. I like the standby mode as well as it saves fiddling about trying to find the on-off switch on the rear every time you want to use them. The input arrangement is nice with the facility to attach to an additional device via a stereo mini-jack as well as the normal XLR and RCA. Using this with the stereo link cable provided means you can plug-in a phone or other device and play directly through the Tannoys. The speakers have auto-signal detect, so again no fiddling about connecting stuff.
Build quality and finish is spot on. Pots on the front feel smooth and the cabinets are nicely finished. I guess some people might not like the gold effect trim, but I think it is a nice nod to the Tannoys of the past, in an up-to-date package.
Loving these!
Been using Tannoy's dual concentric tech since I was 15 years old. It's the only type of speaker I fully and truly trust. This is a great follow up to Tannoy's System 600 line up.
