The 05 failed.

The 05x seems ok so far.

The 05 (previous version) lost its firmware every day that ends with a "Y", constantly reloading the firmware was a bind for me & many others.

This size and basic package works for me, so I got the "05X".

I bought Tascam DR-05X to use with an external mice for recording audio for films.The tascam has everything a begginer need to start.Furthermore it can be used as portable usb audio interface which add one more very usefull feature.

Now a very importand note is that sometimes in hot weather the device turn off so keep in mind when use it at summer

A Very Decent Digital Recorder

It is compact and easy to use once you are familiar with the menu. Recording is very decent and playback is fine through the earphone but is weak through the bulit in mono speaker. Otherwise it is an excellent product if you are not looking for frills and high end performance.
