I do a lot of analog live music recordings from mixer whereby I use direct out´s or inserts from each channel. I bought 2 of these and use smpte sync between the 2 of them. So 16 channels in total. It just works. I use the recording setting 48 khz/32 bit float and sound is great. Good high quality. Also doing that I have more headroom which is important live recording wise which is important due to high gain signals. It picks up the analog line sound very well that way. And thats just what I want. There are 2 sd-cards slots so I dont worry about enough space. It also have mic ins phantom/48 volt and again it performs good with for example my akg 414s or neumann km184 mics if needed on whatever channel. I had been on the lookout for a dependable solution for recording 2 voices (interview/documentary context) for a while and most wireless recorders seem to have either issues with disconnecting (audio dropouts) or ridicuously short battery life. For those reasons I went for 2 Zoom F2s which I used to record the audio of a documentary (it's on youtube, look for Threetom Modular Visit). The battery seems to last forever, both units were on record almost constantly for about 4 hours without any issues. At some point my interviewee turned off the unit before stopping the recording first, I thought I lost that recording but it turned out this doesn't matter. First of all - it's simple and trustworthy. I had an old version - H1 - never had any issues with it. Got some new buttons, but interface is really plain and intuitive. Plastic housing seemes a little bit cheaper, but still sturdy It's nice to use as a USB interface, but you really need a stand to eliminate unwanted noises Yes, gigbag is very handy and it has some spare space - I use it for batteries (always put them out after usage for longer life) And another point - it's really feather-light

I've only had this for a couple of weeks so cant testify for its durability but so far, I couldnt be happier with this unit. It does everything I want accept have a DSLR camera option (which would have been nice). So far havent noticed any loss in the all-round abilities of the recorder, tried it with both Field recordings and with music and its done the job very well, though it also depends on the mics one uses too. I love the multitrack feature. Navigation is pretty straight forward too, which is a big plus for instruction-phobes like me. Coming back to this after some more usage, the only issue I've struck with the unit is the touch screen control. I’m a sound artist and field recordist. Recorders and microphones are my main instruments. I own and owned a lot different recorders. The Zoom F3 is my latest addition. I have 3 of them and I used them for now about half a year. Mostly I use them for drop rigs. Sometimes I use them to record a line level from a mixer or as backup of the backup for critical work. With the new F-series ZOOM has really stepped up their game. I really don’t like the sound and the preamps of the previous H-series. The H-series are noisy, brittle and thin in the high end, and some weird is going on in the transients there. There is none of that in the F-series. Have had this gadget for two weeks only and still finding out how to work it! The handbook is 97 pages long and seems very detailed and for non techno types like me a little daunting- BUT it just needs to be digested slowly, a little at a time. As a complete beginner to the Bass guitar this gadget has allowed me to download my tutorial CD's ( and one or two simple songs) and play along with them at a speed I can handle. Although I now have access to an amplifier I am able , with the Tascam, to HEAR my bass and practice without annoying the family and neighbours with, or without, it. As a single man shooter, the F6 appealed to me straight away with the 32bit float, small form factor and sled at the back for SONY batteries. This means I can shoot all day and not worry constantly about my audio clipping or AA batteries dying on me. The 6 inputs are very powerful, capable of powering the SHURE SM7B. Overall it's incredible and you shouldn't hesitate to buy it. Handling wise has been zero issues. I hear people complaining about the size of the knobs for the inputs but they aer completely fine. I'm 194cm tall with large hands and have had zero issues. Delighted I bought it, its a joy to use and makes my life so much easier on film days.

I chose for a very long time from different options of recorders and stopped at Zoom h6. I bought it for recording drums - I was very pleased! Even on the native XYH-6, the capsule records perfectly, there are a lot of control functions. The sound of the drums does not interrupt the recording and does not create a crackle. I'm not even talking about the fact that you can record the entire installation \ or different tools directly (with a large selection of quality \format\ type). There are a lot of videos with a demonstration on the Internet, I can only add from myself that I do not regret the purchase and I am unlikely to regret it!

I'm a hobbyist musician/producer using this great device for field recordings (ambience, nature, industrial sounds) and quickly record some musical ideas with my acoustic guitar or just have fun and record own foley samples, hit some things in the kitchen with drum sticks to create a "kitchen drum kit" :) The preamps are surprisingly clear and quiet, I tried them with external condenser microphones - Rode NT2000 large diaphragm and T.Bone EM 9900 shotgun - both worked great for their own purposes. Overall it's an awesome recorder packed with tons of features. The only minor issue is its strange finish which looks like a painting process gone bad.
