Small audio recorder that I've wait for a long time

Great little audio recorder with awsome capabilitys. I've use it for weddings and coorporative filming. I love it's small size, portability, in build limiter, dual audio recording (one signal is -6dB). You can also use it for recording audio from the mixing desks.

pros:

small size

portability

simple to use

limiter

dual audio recording

comes with belt clip

cons:

doesn't display audio levels while recording

doesn't have lock button

I didn't have any problems with Tascam DR-10 CS and I love it so much. It's really one of my favorite audio recorders because of it's size, simplicity and reliability. I use it with Rode Smart Lav and Sennheiser lav mics.

All i wanted...

I'm using it in wedding videos. Excellent thing.

Pros:

1)Small(except for some slim fit wedding dress)

2)Low battery consumption

3)Have lockable 3,5mm jack port

Cons:

1)Unlike some other Tascam recorders don't come with memory card

2)Bit of cheap feel plastic

Other:

Would be awesome if it had weather sealing.

The most awesome piece of audio gear I've owned

I work a lot with weddings, documentaries and run and gun situations. Most of the time there aren't any good solutions out there that is small nimble when you are doing both sound and camera at the same time.

The DR-10CS has been the missing piece for a long time in my kit. I bough two and I would not hesitate to buy again.

It is your backup for a wireless pack. They provide a locking jack to locking jac cable for you to do this:

Lav Mic -> Tascam DR-10CS -> Wirelesss Pack (ie: Sennheiser G3)

I have been using it for over 3 months now and it has been with me on every shoot. So I know its quirks and what could be improved.

Bottom line: If you need a good quality, small recorder that fits your lavs, look no further! It beats the Zoom H1 hands down!

Pros:

- Small

- Backlit Screen

- CS - locking screw for Sennheiser type lavs (I use my Tram TR-50)

- Dual Recording (-10db on one side, and normal on other)

- Simple Mic Gain Adjustments (Low/Mid/High)

- Mic Bias

- Low Cut Filter

- Limiter

- Auto Level

- Headphone jack and levels

- Comes with belt clip and "rubber band" for attaching to wireless packs

Cons:

- Slightly fiddly record start and stop and off (all same switch)

- Cannot adjust volume levels manually

- Doesn't display how much audio time is left (tascam please update firmware to do this! Aug 2015)

- I had an issue a few times where the recorder didn't close the file, either due to battery cut off or some sort of unknown reason. The audio file was still there but I had to use VLC to playback the file and extract it, a bit of a hassle. I think its a bug that Tascam has to fix.
