Perfect for Thrash & Death Metal!

With the options this pedal has, you make a very solid Metal sound. The FAT selection is the best one for me. The Distortion it gives you is of great range. The Bass and Treble options can fill your sound and give it a good substance. I made a great "Death-Symbolic" sound out of this.

Awesome pedal

Awesome pedal, robust, good metal Quality finished, knobs are also running smoothly. Excellent sound effects. As a rookie guitar and bass player, I have the best experience.

Distortion monster

I bought a distortion pedal but they sent a monster distortion pedal.

It just sounds amazing, its built like a tank and the best of all, it’s not even expensive.

If you want a good distortion pedal I would recommend this 100%, but I also would encourage to buy a noise gate if you want to push this bad boy to its limits.

Amazing and cheap metal distortion

Sounds awesome, I plug it into a Spark Mini modelling amp and whether I pick clean or dirty it sounds great. If you want to add some "meat" to the sound, add an overdrive like the Cinders or a blues driver after it, it sounds really great.

Very versatile beginner distortion

This may look like a standard distortion pedal at first, but pay close attention to the central switch, it offers 3 different modes which sounds quite different from eachother, offering tonnes of variety in tone, from modern metal to old school death metal.

I've since departed with most of the pedals I got as a beginner, but I have kept this one simply because it offers so much variety in sound. Highly recommended as a player's first distortion pedal.

Like all TC Electronic pedals in this range, it is built like a tank.

Remind your neighbors what's your favourite music genre

No complaints from the neighborhood even if you already broke the gain knob of your small combo? Your tinnitus is still too subtle? Remind everyone how little you care about the quiet hours of the afternoon with this affordable beast of a pedal! But please don't scoop over the scoop setting :(

Take it and don't leave it!

I have only one thing to say:

I bought it for my son's guitar last year and I bought one for my bass a few days ago.

Good pedal for a synth

I'm using it with two synths: Odyssey and Model D and my review is written for those who want to use it with synths.

Works good for both but I think that sound-wise it's better with Model D. Unfortunately Low Output of Model D is very quiet and for the distortion pedal I would recommend something before Fangs (boost or drive).

About settings: RAW and FAT are the best and I couldn't find any application for Scoop yet. For synths it would be nice to have a knob for Mids for better control I think.

Sonically it's very good. It has this vibe of the '80s. Easy to make hard leads. Some basic synth patch plus this pedal and I'm immediately hooked up to play fast riffs almost like a guitarist would do.

If you want to have a heavy distortion pedal for your synth and don't pay a lot, Fangs will most likely satisfy your needs. Just keep in mind that it requires quite hot signal if you really want to drive it hard.

Great sound

I like this pedal as the sound is very quality for a low price. The pedal has a wide range of adjustments, thanks to which you can get many shades of distortion. The sound is clear without noise, from light to very heavy overdrive.

The body is very reliable, the controls are pleasant to the touch and smooth. Recomended for buying.

This definitely chugs!

I connected this to a Volca FM, running it with some reverb and delay. Instant atmospheric black metal without guitar skills XD

This distortion is not subtle at all. Love it!

Very Solid Build, great tone variety

It's a very well built pedal, with solid metal casing and resistant switch.

you can get a very wide variety of metal tones out of this pedal - a great purchase for most people looking for a nice metal distortion pedal.

Really recommend!!

If you're looking for a budget, yet killer distortion - this one's for you. It has quite the tweakability, and the range. The only little con was, that the 3rd setting (of the 3 way switch) was super scooped.

Something I really dug, was the way it sounds, has something short of Dimebag's tone.

In conclusion, an intermediate guitarist, I REALLY recommend this, huge difference from the stuff you get built in in an amp.

Metal on Metal

DAAAAMN! Metal runs in this pedals veins! The variety of sounds you can produce from a three way switch between Raw, Fat and Scoop. I'm no expert with pedals but having a little fondle with the settings I managed to get a nice Grand Magus sound and then cranking everything up to max and out comes the old school Entombed/Swedish Death Metal kick to the gut.

I love the sound of this pedal along with the build. This thing feels solid. Metal casing makes it feel like it could take a real beating and its got a weight behind it.

I do not think you could find a better pedal for the price if you want a metal distortion pedal. If you are unsure, look up Ola Englund on YouTube who tries this pedal on Will It Chug. Spoiler, hell yeah it does.

Do you want HEAVY ??? Well for this price, look no more :)

USE 1 - I use it with a 5W 1 channel tube amplifier (12AX7 + EL84). It simply turns that amp into a pure analog high gain beast for home practice. I used various digital multi effect before, but I was never pleased with high gain sound. Finally I have the sound I wanted. My amp also lacks bass/mid/treble, it has only TONE knob. This pedal has very responsive bass and treble plus 3 mid presets. I can now definitely dial in any EQ color or flavour i want. It's just perfect.

USE 2 - I also tested it for audio production on PC. Guitar + Fangs Metal directly into audio interface. I used that raw sound basicly as a preamp that enters VST poweramp plugin and finaly VST CAB simulation. All I can say is WOW! With different IR's only the sky is limit.

QUALITY - Outstanding quality. Metal casing build like a tank. Knobs (pots) are big and very firm and strong. Nothing looks cheap on this product.

Some people commented about "3 preset mod switch" that only "fat" mode is usable. I don't agree with that. Be prepared to use bass and treble on pedal. They are very responsive and you can find good sound with "raw" and "scoop" mode also.

For now I simply can't find any cons.

Diverse distortion settings

I'm more of a od and fuzz guy, but some times, distortion is needed. I don't play in the more "hairy" genres, so I might not be the guy to listen to. But I managed to find the bluesy bite i needed, and a couple of sounds I didn't know I needed.

Got a solid metal frame, I expect it to outlast the cost.

I' impressed.
