Glitchy, but good sound

It's extremely glitchy and only the lowest 3 strings of my guitar actually worked with it. The sound quality itself is really good, but it's a completely useless pedal as a bass guitar replacement because of the glitching. I returned this product and do not recommend others to buy it.

Does what it's meant to do!

I use the Octaver along with a loop pedal to add bass lines to the loop with an acoustic guitar. It's a solid and sturdy build which fits perfectly in my pedalboard. I like the option of going down one or two octaves. It also provides exactly the quality I need for my performances in small venues.

Absolute bargain

I purchased it when getting some other stuff because it was cheap and thought I'd give it a go.

Was very impressed with the build quality and, after a lot of silly fun, found setting that really worked for me.

Think I paid under £40 for it.

Use it a lot

Nice and fair vintage built octaver

I bought it to create bass tones with my Boel so-3 guitar for looping..

It does the job perfect for what i was looking for..

Simple, affotable and built like a tank..

And is an all analoge circuit device..

100% vintage tones and responce..I would buy it again for sure..

It works but doesn't track too well

I bought this to play some bass lines with my guitar. First off, it works - I get the correct tone. Then the caveat: it doesn't work consistently for every note. There are some tricks you can use to help tracking, i.e. dial back the tone knob and volume some, pick softly near the neck. But still, tracking is a game of hit and miss.

Somewhat superfluous

I initially got this in my very early naïve days, thinking it would allow me to circumvent having a bass guitar, or otherwise help me achieve otherworldly heavy tones.

Within this context, it will add a bit of heaviness with the 1st octave down, and a slight amount of wet signal, however anything beyond that (any additional wet signal, or venturing into the 2nd octave), the sound just becomes muddy and I personally could not find any use for it.

However, the construction is solid, built like a tank, as are all TC Electronic pedals in this range, and it does exactly what it claims to do, and I know that some people use this for other applications (synth) with much success.

Not so good

The pedal is built pretty good. Metal housing, footswitch and the knobs are not bad. But it doesn't work well for me! I tried using it with western acoustic guitars, with Fishman single coil and also with piezo pickups. I also tried different string gauges (10,11,12) and types. I don't know why, but it only produces fairly nice bass tones up to 5th fret on E6 and A5 strings so it can't even produce one full octave! Between 5th and 9th fret it struggles to produce some bass but it sounds awful! Higher than that there is no bass sound at all.

Surprisingly good tracking

I use this on Bass, basically just because i wanted to see how it would perform. Been using it ever since because it does a pretty good job, satisfactory for the stuff i use it for (every now and then in some coverbands/hiphoppy projects). The tracking is suprisingly good down to the lower notes on the A string (for me around the B) on the G string C it has kind of a deadspot, just doesn't seem to like that frequency. The sound has a nice organic flavour to it, not as synthlike as f.e. the Boss OC pedals. Rolling down the tone makes it go into that direction more. I never use the sub octave, on bass thats just too much, so i just took that nob off completely (easily pulled off). Its a bit chunky, but for that reason pretty sturdy too. 4 stars because theres obviously better (but more expensive) alternatives, but the nether looks cool, does the job well and takes a beating.

Great with bass guitar

I use this to get an extra kick at live shows on my bass, especially when using fuzz and OD pedals which notoriously pull out the low end of the bass - works a treat!

Bass how long can you go?

Fantastic panel that does the job exactly what I bought it for!

I am basically a one-man band in that I play everything myself. I don't have a bass guitar so I would have to make do whereas bass lines are concerned. Sometimes I just leave the bass out altogether, but when I do a bassline, I rely heavily on the Nether Octaver. You can really fine-tune the low octaves of your own guitar to make it sound just like a bass and it works great for me. Alternatively, if you think your rhythm guitar sounds a little thin with too little body, you can use this pedal to slightly make your rhythm guitar have a little more of a fat body and fuller sound. You'd have to fiddle around with that a little bit though, because if you put it up too much it quickly sounds as if you're playing chords on a bass, which is what you don't want. Just add a little at the time until you think it's full and fat enough. Really happy with this pedal: it's reliable, gives a good sound and again, does exactly what I bought it for. No frills, just a good sound for a very decent price! I would most definitively recommend this if you're looking for an Octaver!

Really awful pedal.

Warbly and inconsistent in how it tries to add the octave. Never use it. Keep searching!

honest classic sub octaver

I've looked at a lot of reviews about this pedal and it fully paid off.

This is a classic octaer that only processes one note at a time. But this feature is also liked by many.

The main thing is that for such a price it is very well assembled, completely analog and without defects.

An interesting feature: each knob has 100% volume for 12 hours, so the dry, 1 and 2 octave channels can be mixed with amplification.

Günstiges Oktaven-Pedal

Und hat dennoch einen tollen Klang. Nutze es für Seven Nation Army und weil ich zu faul bin, für Songs in D-Standard extra die Gitarre umzustimmen.

Good pedal. It's in my pedalboard. Does his job.

Sturdy, well made, good sound. Is the kind of octaver that needs a bit more signal to do a good tracking, meaning on single coils its perfect before a fuzz to do the dirty grainy sound. With humbuckers, on the other side, it tracks very well the frequencies, giving a more hi-fi octave sound. You can even use it to do a bass sound with your guitar.

I really does the job well

Very very inexpensive boss OC2-ish pedal.

Sound is spot on, it has some dead spots where it does not pick the octave below (around the C on a D string on my bass)

But I wouldnt be surprised if other analog octaver pedals do this as well.

Great pedal.

Natural sound. Zero latency. Great. If you like octaver, this is it.

A boost, or a transposed bass

The pedal is built solid, the knobs are great and all, but I happen to use it as a boost or a mild "natural overdrive". The reason why is because the bass options sound like a transposed guitar in any DAW. The pedal shines the most when the sub octaves are used *the lowest one* up to 1/3 and the other up to half. Like it a lot, just was not expecting to use it as I do.

Very nice pedal

Very nice pedal, great sound, very good built. Simple to use, You can dial in many different sounds...

Only flaw is connector for the power supply. Not every jack will work and make contact with the connector.

Mixed feelings

The overall quality is amazing for the price but the sound isn't what I was looking for and in my opinion, the second octave is kinda slow
