tc electronic PolyTune Clip Tuner 4-stars Reviews
Handy, but expensive
Poly tuning works okay, but I find I still fine tune each string by itself, so no real time gained. Less flexible with positioning than other tuners.
Good tuner but struggles with low strings
I play a lot in drop B and drop A and this tuner seems to struggle with the low B and A. Other than that I can’t fault it
Tunes
Very easy to use and quite small to easily go unnoticed on the guitar headstock.
It will occasionally turn off mid tune. Unsure if this is a defect or just a feature
Almost reliable tuner
The tuner works just fine, very well illuminated in dark and light. But I've found that strobe mode is not tuning well, if you're not planning on using it i think you'll like this clip tuner.
Does what it says
The tuner works as expected. It recognizes each string without much effort (I have only tested it on electric guitar, I don't know how it behaves with bass). The only problem that I have with it, which is a minor one, is that the plastic cracked a bit near the top button.
good product quality/price
Using the product to tune the melody strings of an Indian Dilruba it serves very well the cause. Sometimes it lacks quick response, but this might be due to the many resonance cords of the instrument.
It is very practical in handling. Overall a very good product in relation to price/quality.
Good tuner, works as described
The tuner works as described, the one thing that bothers me is that it turns of during tuning after some time, while i'm stil tuning). I wish i had gotten the black one. :D
The only con is that tuning accuracy is not the best compared to bigger tuners.
Great tuner
PROS: Little size, bright screen, quality-metal/rubber, all-strings tuning at once
CONS: It's expensive, but I think it's worth buying a tuner that will last you a few years, than to buy a new cheap tuner every month.
The only dissapointment that I had with it is that the white plastic (at the ON button) broke a bit after a very short time, because I pressed it. When you want to take the tuner off the guitar, lift the tuner-itself (plastic thing) a bit, and then press the metal only. I hope this helps!
A superb little tuner, with a couple of caveats.
I use my Polytune Clip all the time, and of all my tuners (and I have owned a lot) it is my favourite. However, I am only going to give it four out of five because of a couple of things.
One; the polytune (all the strings at once) function is ok, but I wouldn't trust that alone when playing live or recording. It's not really possible to check all the strings accurately. I always use the single string mode to tune up, and it is excellent at that.
Two; the casing is plastic, and a small crack developed where it is very thin around the on button. This messed around with the function of the unit, and I had to take it apart, superglue the crack and put it back together again. It works fine, but it was an annoyance.
In summary; this is a great and accurate clip on tuner, but the poly gimmick isn't for me. It has a design flaw in the case, and at this kind of price I cannot justify five stars.
Good and simple tuner
Works very well. But after the concert I have to remove the battery otherwise it will be empty one day.
Maybe I got a defective product and only my tuner will do this way.
Great tuning but build quality not as good
More suitable for electric guitars, though also works on classical, but the clip gets really high on tension, as on classical guitars the wood is bigger. Still fits though.
pros & cons
Works great from the get go, even without reading manual. Just put on headstock and strum. It detects even lighter strums that other tuners do not. Great feature is that if you strum all strings, it gives you feedback for all of them, that probably the best feature.
The clip and front are aluminum, but the back and the battery door are plastic and not very good on mine. On one side the plastic cover has a tiny gap. The major problem with mine is that the battery does not fit well, and you have to push the plastic door to fit it, and after that the plastic is all flimsy.
Overall I do recommend it, but have in mind you might get one with problem on the plastic. I think if they made all aluminum there will be no warping and this will be the best tuner of all time.
Accurate Guitar Tuner
I was looking for the most accurate tuner I could find for my electric and acoustic guitars.
Having had other tuners that were not very accurate.
Pros: Very accurate control, consistent and compact.
Cons: Does not swivel, so you can't view readings as well as you would like.
TC Electronic PolyTune Clip Tuner
Great tuner. I use it on my bass and classical guitar. Very accurate but when i'm tuning my bass sometimes it has trouble distinguishing E form B. But overall very accurate and reliable tuner! Would recommend. Btw it comes with a battery in the box (Atleast my unit came with one)
quick and useful
definitely works well, very clear reading, but sometimes refuses to switch off/on because button is fiddly
It's good, with minor issues
It works well and has all the features you would expect in a clip-on tuner.
Problems: It randomly switches to polyphonic tuning mode when you are trying to tune one string, and there is no way to disable this behavior.
It does not show the octave number of a note, for example C1, C2, C3, etc...
The battery cover seems flimsy and does not fit perfectly in place.
TC Electronic PolyTune Clip
Tuner is good, but has a problem with bass guitar by reading E string, which is often portrayed as B, regardless of whether it is set to a guitar or bass. Plastic construction could be better
Handy and slick device
This is a clip on tuner designed to be mounted on your guitar so that you can tune your guitar at a glance. Its main feature is that it can do polyphonic tuning, and it does it quite well on a guitar.
I tend to use it mostly on a bass, where the polyphonic tuning doesn't work, but the other modes do. Getting a good contact between it and the body which can pick up the string vibrations but not fall off is a bit of an art, but it can be done.
It tunes quite well on the bass, although the low B string on a 5 or a 6 is not very sensitive, so needs a bit of patience.
Overall a quality product, better on guitar on bass at the high end of the price range for these devices
Very Precices Clip Tuner
The TC PolyTune Clip is a very precise Clip Tuner.
It makes tuning your acoustic, electric and bass guitar very easy and quick. The polyphonic mode allows you to get a quick overview and "pre"tune your instrument. The tuning of your individual stings is very accurate. The PloyTune Clip is built well, the clip is tight and stays at your headstock without damaging it, due to its good rubber cover. The Display is very bright an readable, it turns around, depending on how you attached it.
I bought it because a wanted a good and trustworthy tuner, with the flexibility to use it on different guitars on stage, but also at home without a pedal board.
Fast and accurate tuner
It is nice to see all the strings at one glance. After getting used to this fine gadget, one doesn't want to use any older tuners. The accuracy is better than in many other models, you can lower or sharpen the key easily, the display is clear.
TC Electronic PolyTune Clip Tuner is so far the best I have had.
Still, I don't know how long time the battery operates.
I can recommend this to serious players or to anyone, who wants to stay in tune with a minimum effort.
