tc electronic Sub'N'Up Mini Octaver Reviews
This pedal is amazing! It's so easy to use and the sound quality is top-notch. I love how compact it is too - perfect for my pedalboard.
Great Octaver for a price!
The tracking isn't perfect but it's close to it. I use it with bass and only in octave up mode. It give great tone addition and gives extra harmonics. Overall, highly recomend this pedal.
Some good sounds but it sucks your tone when bypassed. Not much but still. I just couldn't live with this. Sounds are interesting and some very useful. The simple one octave down is not powerful enough. There's a better octaver on the Line6 M5 for example. The dry signal is not the same as your guitar tone it's sounds different somehow synthesized and I think this is the main problem.
This thing is a lot of fun
I don’t really know why I bought this, I had no reference or musical inspiration for it. I just thought why the hell not.
Well all I can say is that when I stomp on it, I start noodling weird riffs for what would seem to be hours.
Bottom line, this thing is fun, but it.
Great little pedal
Such a great little pedal. But I don’t sound like Mark Lettieri?
Sub sub
This is really a good add to guitar sound. You can get real close to a good Bass sound for looping - and also get close to a 12-string sound using the Up function. The only minus is that the Bass sound is a little synthetic, but it is what it it is.
simple and to the point
Does what is is supposed to. Extra lows for more beefy sound, or an octave up for fuller texture. The knobs are a bit too small but this also means that the overall size of the pedal makes it pedalboard-friendly and worth keeping it there.
Wonderfull sound but some volume problems
The different octave voicings sounds absolutely wonderfull, with a slight hint of shimmer in the highs. It does however screw with the volume in the sense that it seems to add some unwanted gain.
Amazing!
This works great for me. I use a loop pedal and I need to loop bass lines and this works great. But quality is amazing and its small. I just wish there was a volume button. Otherwise, I love it!
Small size but great piece of gear. Works great on bass even in low tunings.
Pedale favoloso
Tc una garanzia sempre, fa quello che deve in ķmodo egregiom
Excellent octave effect with a small footprint
This pedal tracks excellently and doesn't have a negative impact on your tone. The only minor issue I've had is it can get a bit undefined when producing the lower octave below a certain pitch.
Does its job flawlessly
Nice sound. I have a more expensive octaver which I can't compare. This one's sound is close enough though. I'd give it a shot.
best stuff you can get for the money
If you`re not using octavers all the time and you need a good reliable one just for that part here and there or a million options just to be creative, you`ll not find a better offer overall.
Fine
You CAN get great sounds with this pedal. but you will need to play around with it for some time first.
fair price for great sound
I really need this in my pedal-board, and based on the reviews I bought it.
So far , for me, this little box, gives me three main new options.
1 - Lower octave boost; for fatter riffs or funkier solos.
2 - Higher octave + a little lower octave; for a 12th string emulation.
3 - Both octaves (high + low) mid level, for a organ/keyboard type of sound.
It sounds quite natural to me.
Price is fair for me.
Nice pedal
Average tracking, if you play fast it sounds like a lo-fi robot.
But, still, it does the job. I like the tiny size. It would be nice to have the same switching system as the mini Spark
brilliant
you want an organ?
this pedal will do it
you want flanged octaves?
it'll do it
you want lowpassed trichorus 12 string sounds?
it'll do it
simply brilliant
Acoustic Guitar - Unusual use for this wee gem
I'll outline how I use this just in case any other acoustic guitarists are looking for a way to beef up their sound. Works great for me.
If you rig up a sound hole pick up vertically (not the usual horizontal way) the pick up basically only picks up your E and A strings fed into the Sub n Up with the dry and octave up turned off - then mixed with your guitar pick up (I use K&K on my Martin) you can subtly really beef up the acoustic sound with bass. This makes a really big difference to my solo sound.
The Sub n Up tracks extremely well - I also have a POG which tracks the best - however it can sound very - synthetic ... the Sub n Up has a huge bass sound which is more like a double bass sound and dynamically much more lifelike. Be careful you don't over do it if you want a subtle mix.
I've never used the other features as this was bought purely to give my acoustic guitar a better range on the E, A and about 50% of the D string without affecting the treble strings.
Great product for the price and very accurate.
sounds awesome
as all of the tc products it's well built and sounds awesome
