tc electronic Forcefield Compressor Reviews
impresser compresser
Does what it says on the packet, it's now in an always on state on the pedal board. Again, a top product from tcE with a small price tag.
Great compressor
I really like it. I used to have a cheaper (bought from wish) compressor which sucked out all of the highs in my guitar. I'm not having that probelm with this guy from TC.
Robust, durable, cheap. Good one.
A good compressor for that kind of money
A good compressor for that kind of money, but it is very inconvenient that in order to put the battery you need to unscrew the case cover, which, it should be noted, is very tight
Simple compressor pedal
Does not sound the best.. But it's not expensive, so... And it's to totally bad also, it works.
I would like a mix (also called blend) knob, just because I like parallel compression.
Amazing compression for the money
This pedal is one of the cheaper compressors out there and I wasn't expecting it to amaze me, but it did.
Sustain is pretty much endless, even at low amp volumes.
Compression and attack are crisp but don't make the guitar sound like MIDI.
Plus, the true bypass really helps with noise, or if you need to use the pedal as a bridge between two cables to make one big cable for your guitar.
Overall really pleased, would recoomend.
Took me a while, but I like it
Overall, really good for bringing up the quiet parts while keeping the louder ones under control!
Long review:
One of the pieces of gear I took the longest to get to know and use. Maybe it's just the nature of a compressor, but I could never really get it to do exactly what I expected it to do. This, however, was most likely because of my unreal expectations (I expected something probably more along the lines of 'never ending sustain').
What I found it was great for, however, is more along the lines of what a compressor actually does (DUH), and that is bringing up the quiet stuff while keeping the loud stuff at a similar level.
To me, this is incredibly obvious only when tapping, otherwise I have to really try to emphasize the dynamicness while picking. This is probably just my untrained ears though.
I also found it useful while playing with bandmates as it made sure I was around the same volume all the time.
Another thing you could use this for is to have it set up after your drive so it squashes things down a bit, but not too much, and reduces volume a bit, and use that as a rhythm tone, and then turn it off for the lead tone, which I did for a while as well. Works great if you don't do a lot of legato, in my opinion.
Only thing I wish it had was a blend knob because it would make it much easier to see what it's doing, in my opinion.
Built to last
First compressor pedal for me, really did not expect the influence of a compressor pedal on overall sound. Incredible quality/price compressor pedal by TC Electronics.
Simple yet effective
The Dials are very straight forward but they all have an impact on the tone, its a great deal what you pay for, as the tonal quality is very good. I enjoy these simple pedals as I don't have to switch around a long time to find my sound, with this straight forward pedal I can dial in my sound quickly and it will get me what I want. For those that want a bit more tonal variety and features may have to look somewhere else, however it is a great bang for your buck!
Great compressor!
Using it with my Roland Microcube and a strat. Really enhances the sound and gives more versatility to my playing! Recommend.
build like a tank
tc electronics has an amazing pedal here.
its a great compressor for funky playing. it also works great before a reverb and delay when you play ambient. Sure its not a multiband compressor but you dont need that most of the time,
this simple compressor fits great on any pedalboard and is a great first compressor pedal to buy
Solid budget option to get into compression
Can get a bit confusing, but once you understand it you will be able to get the sounds you want with it.
It's obvioulsy a budget option, it will not take you into the same kind of compression as the way more expensive pedals do.
It's built like a tank, and it's a big one on your pedalboard. But looks good and can be a solid adition to your board without busting the bank.
Great sounding compressor
No cons at this time. Been using live it for several weeks now. Does what it needs to do - keeps my levels in check without changing my tone too much. Doesn't sound squashed when you don't want it to. Adds sustain but doesn't add noise. Transparent and effective, and it looks good on the board too!
This is a semi good dynamic compresor. It delivers a punch neded from this sort of pedal and the freq. on which the compression is made is soft and full of mids. BUT it's got an annoying amount of hhhshshshshshsh (noise) when I turn the knobs more than 1pm. Because of that I would suggest you go and check some more cheap compressors.
Good compressor
Good compressor. I haven't encountered any problems yet. Brings out the quieter frequencies for a fuller sound. In my case, the hammer-ons in "Layla":)
Compressor that actually works!!
I really like this pedal and cannot have it NOTE in my chain when playing. Brings tonally soft and hard sounds together. and accentuate it for the ear. This works well live of in Studio use.
There's noting I am dissatisfied with, All works and the pedal is simple and easy to manage. I would replace this if ever it is lost.
Almost Unbelievable...
I needed a compressor for 3 uses:
-as a country guitar "spanky" effect
-as an always on bass compressor
-as outboard gear for recording and mixing.
I found it extremely pleasing at everything, I've used it on
active 5-string bass, fretless hollow 4-string bass,
el.guitars tuned from C standard to high A standard,
and recording vocals and drums.
The Attack knob does wonders and along with the sustain knob
you can have from mild, really spanky compression to ironing limiting.
Unfortunately unless you have the sustain knob past 9 o'clock,
the level knob won't actually boost the volume, so you can't
have it set to a very slight compression without volume loss.
Well, it's not a problem for me, a lot of classic and more expensive compressors have the same issue.
Finally, it doesn't color the tone much, I find that it only reduces the really extreme and harsh treble you'd never want, also it does have the feeling of a real, hardware compressor, most of the times in the studio I prefer it to any plugin.
I'm definitely buying another one!
What you expect a compressor to do
Nothing sensational but easy to tweak so that it sounds good.
Good and simple compressor
This is just a good, cheap and simple compressor. Sounds good and it's built much better than the usual Chinese options in this price range.
Forcefield! A well deserved name!
I did not buy it because it was just affordable. I am glad for this but it was the brand that has already proven its worthiness to me with other effects that made me look at what they offered as compressor.
The Forcefield deserves indeed its name!
It is pro equipment and nothing else!
The 3 knobs controls are plenty enough for most people to use this compressor, with a truly satisfying output.
Another superb tc electronic product!
Does this company loves what it does and loves making it affordable? I really believe now that they do!
Great pedal at a great price!
I'm actually pleasantly surprised that I paid so little for this wonderful pedal! Simple approach to guitar compression without complicated controls just like the early CS1/2 from Boss.
Great pedal! Does what it was supposed to do!
