tc electronic Forcefield Compressor 5-stars Reviews
Alborz Mousapour
One of best compressor that I used I'm my life, super high quality and super smooth
best pedal on my board for tone improvement
the different between this on and off is quite remarkable. It makes my tone so much punchier and slappier and the dynamic range doesn't feel too squashed. definitely recommend if you're after a little more oomph
affordable
doing it's job. don't know is it excellent or average because I don't have other compressors to compare, but I guess it is fine as I notice it's effects on guitar sound which I like. like any other compressor, it can be used for various purposes. seems solid built at affordable price.
I never turn it off :D
Was so surprised how much I use this when it was so cheap.
The controls are a little vague/limited but if you understand compression you won't be stuck in any way.
Sturdy case, cheap knobs but still working perfectly years later. I genuinely just always have it on, I love it
Works great
does what a compressor should do. Really simple, easy to use, but does what it is supposed to perfectly. It may lack some more advanced features, but for me - that is what I need. And for this price, I think it cannot be beaten
Surprisingly good, smooth and precise!
For this price range, you can't go wrong!!
If you need a compressor that does the job and you don't care much about space in your board, that's the one!
The pedal is a little bit bigger than "standards" but not crazy, however, it looks solid and with a very nice finishing.
I can get a nice smooth compression for rhythm guitar or a hard compression to hold a bass with picks, all you need from a compressor is there! I would love a Mix (dry/wet) Knob to explore some parallel compression, however, for this price range, I cannot complain about it.
Good comp for a budget
Bought for my brother.
As it is his first compressor, he does not have any comparison.
It does the intended job. The build quality is the same as all of these type of TC electronic pedals.
Very flexible & wide-rangine compressor
I use this with my Player Strat, PRS SE Custom and MESA/Boogie MkIV. With the strat it really brings out the clear, spanky clean tones the strat is known for. With the PRS, I can dial in additional creamy sustain and mid-range crunch.
It is capable of everything from the most subtle of sparkle to a frankly over-the-top volume and sustain boost. Excellent pedal.
Clear as Day
A few weeks ago I didn't even know what a compressor does nor did I think that I'd even want one. I always thought it would take away from the dynamics of my playing and make the sound frankly a bit dull.
To be honest: I was really blown away testing the TC Forcefield. At first you don't even recognise that there is a change in the colour of your tone. But it's really dramatic when you turn the effect off after a while: You'll miss something that can't even be properly explained.
Kicking in the effect once again it's like a veil being drawn from your speakers, it' like a presence knob being pulled at your amp, it's like you had changed your run of the mill pickups for some boutique hand-wounds. (And that's without even going beyond noon with the attack and sustain).
I would highly recommend for anyone to check out a compressor pedal because if you don't, you might miss out.
Are there any compressors that do it better? Honestly, I don't know. I've only played this one.
Is it "studio-quality"? I guess not, but who cares?
Is it cheaper than any competition on the market? I guess so.
Is it also (extremely good) value for money? Hell yeah!
Should you at least try compression for once? You bet your bellybutton!
I'm really happy with this purchase. It plays well with other pedals too...
Great pedal with no noise. Simple but works well. It's a keeper.
The pedals in this range are really well built but big and heavy. still, the position of the jacks up top means it doesn't take up more width on the pedal board. Top mounted inputs is genius - why don't they all have this?
impresser compresser
Does what it says on the packet, it's now in an always on state on the pedal board. Again, a top product from tcE with a small price tag.
Amazing compression for the money
This pedal is one of the cheaper compressors out there and I wasn't expecting it to amaze me, but it did.
Sustain is pretty much endless, even at low amp volumes.
Compression and attack are crisp but don't make the guitar sound like MIDI.
Plus, the true bypass really helps with noise, or if you need to use the pedal as a bridge between two cables to make one big cable for your guitar.
Overall really pleased, would recoomend.
Took me a while, but I like it
Overall, really good for bringing up the quiet parts while keeping the louder ones under control!
Long review:
One of the pieces of gear I took the longest to get to know and use. Maybe it's just the nature of a compressor, but I could never really get it to do exactly what I expected it to do. This, however, was most likely because of my unreal expectations (I expected something probably more along the lines of 'never ending sustain').
What I found it was great for, however, is more along the lines of what a compressor actually does (DUH), and that is bringing up the quiet stuff while keeping the loud stuff at a similar level.
To me, this is incredibly obvious only when tapping, otherwise I have to really try to emphasize the dynamicness while picking. This is probably just my untrained ears though.
I also found it useful while playing with bandmates as it made sure I was around the same volume all the time.
Another thing you could use this for is to have it set up after your drive so it squashes things down a bit, but not too much, and reduces volume a bit, and use that as a rhythm tone, and then turn it off for the lead tone, which I did for a while as well. Works great if you don't do a lot of legato, in my opinion.
Only thing I wish it had was a blend knob because it would make it much easier to see what it's doing, in my opinion.
Built to last
First compressor pedal for me, really did not expect the influence of a compressor pedal on overall sound. Incredible quality/price compressor pedal by TC Electronics.
Simple yet effective
The Dials are very straight forward but they all have an impact on the tone, its a great deal what you pay for, as the tonal quality is very good. I enjoy these simple pedals as I don't have to switch around a long time to find my sound, with this straight forward pedal I can dial in my sound quickly and it will get me what I want. For those that want a bit more tonal variety and features may have to look somewhere else, however it is a great bang for your buck!
build like a tank
tc electronics has an amazing pedal here.
its a great compressor for funky playing. it also works great before a reverb and delay when you play ambient. Sure its not a multiband compressor but you dont need that most of the time,
this simple compressor fits great on any pedalboard and is a great first compressor pedal to buy
Great sounding compressor
No cons at this time. Been using live it for several weeks now. Does what it needs to do - keeps my levels in check without changing my tone too much. Doesn't sound squashed when you don't want it to. Adds sustain but doesn't add noise. Transparent and effective, and it looks good on the board too!
Good compressor
Good compressor. I haven't encountered any problems yet. Brings out the quieter frequencies for a fuller sound. In my case, the hammer-ons in "Layla":)
Compressor that actually works!!
I really like this pedal and cannot have it NOTE in my chain when playing. Brings tonally soft and hard sounds together. and accentuate it for the ear. This works well live of in Studio use.
There's noting I am dissatisfied with, All works and the pedal is simple and easy to manage. I would replace this if ever it is lost.
