Take some time to learn it.

Or you won't have a clue what's happening. Once that is done, it really is a fun little sound machine.

Cool Drum machine

This delivered on everything it promised. It could be considered a toy and it has very limited I/O but it intuitive, creative and fun which can't be said for many pieces of drum tech.

great little addition for an beat maker

It's hard to be negative about this product, it might not have the best sounds, or be laden with features but look at the price! Like many of the Teenage Engineering products it has an undeniable fun factor!

Lots of fun

Easy to use.

Good sounds and effects.

My first drum machine, so nothing to compare it to, but finding it good fun to use.

Great little machine!

For the price this kicks ass! The sound is crisp and fat, the workflow is really intuitive and easy to get your head around. It syncs with other gear via mini-jack. For the price I can't think of any other device with so much capabilities, the portability and immediacy. Highly recommend!

Fun toy

I occasionally play it at home in pair with PO-33 K.O. (sampler). It's compact, portable, it sounds fine, is fun to play with, and has very long, practically eternal, battery life.

However, even for the given functionality, the provided controls are not enough. Need more dedicated knobs and buttons responsible for their own parameters.

Awesome little box of groove!

Teenage Engineering have a reputation for making deceptively simple and intuitive but amazing sounding products - the PO-12 is no exception. The onboard FX are great. Anyone who enjoys pushing buttons and DAWless jamming is going to have a wonderful time; it puts a smile on my face every single time! Highly recommended.

NB: Get one of the cases if you can - while they're pretty tough little units, dust and dirt can quickly build up, especially if you're travelling with it.

Fun and easy

For what this costs, its killer. Actually handed it over to my little daughter and she picked it up really quickly and made some cool beats.

This thing is pure fun

This is my first PO and I've now lost hours playing with this thing.

It pack some serious punches.

Lots of features, great sound quality and I love this minimalistic design!

Good to play, but nothing more.

just great

I've had PO-12 for some years and I am still using it for some Live performances, where we are syncing hardware synth's, modular as well with other stuff.

It's easy to use, fun, sound good and built quality also is great.

it has it's own sound character.

It there would be a situation where I lose or damage this drum operator, I would consider to buy a new one, even I know there is PO 32 out there.

Just good to have in your arsenal.

Awesome drum machine for the price

I was expecting a toy but I am really surprised by the sounds this little thing can make. If you run it through some effects it sounds much more massive than it has any right to. Especially for the low price. I guess the only downside to this specific PO is the fact that it is much harder to make a full song with it than some other POs. It can only make drum sounds pretty much (there is a bass and synth sound but it is quite limited). But at least the one thing it does it does really well. At this price a no brainer!

Crazy :)

Fun little thing.

I really thought it's a toy but it's far from it

A must Have!

Pocket classic. Po deliver all the basics for a groove box !

The foundation of all PO's series.

Le pro case became necessary for live performances.

A nice pocket-small drum machine!

I have ordered this pocket size drum machine to complete my micro synth setup (I have also T.E. Robot). It's a small drum machine with a big sound! A bit difficult to use, cause of the small size-interface (no pads-just small buttons) but small size is also a plus, like mobility and battery operation!

SUPER FUN DRUMS IN YOUR POCKET!

A great studio addition

This little guy came to me as a big surprise from TE when they teamed up with Cheap Monday; being known for their 600¤ synth and then coming up with this thing for 70¤. Nice unique sounds and effects, a really, REALLY good speaker (better than the Volca series), clear display, sturdy for a portable setup, good battery life (runs on regular AAA). It can even tell time.

Being only a barebone PCB with buttons+display on top, it doesn't even have the on/off button (it has auto-sleep though), but that doesn't stop it from delivering a serious punch. Editable parameters can be motion sequenced too, patterns can be chained and tempo and shuffle is also editable (up to 240BPM). Has an included stand (a fold-out metal piece).

I wish it has some of these things (but then it wouldnt cost so little):

-channel mute

-display light

-on/off (although I think the newer PO-2x series will have that)

-more pattern spaces

-maybe better saving (if you remove the batteries, sometimes it wipes your patterns)

But I think I'll buy a few more, these things have great charm and usability, I even made an EP solely done on a PO-12.

Best if the three PO units...

Having great fun with these units, and using them in some very interesting environments. Teenage Engineering is an interesting company, and, if you have (quite a lot of) cash to spare then their OP-1 synth is also fantastic.
