the box pro Mon A12 Reviews
Absolutely perfect for the job
These are great, I've been using them for years.
They are more than loud enough to hear over a rock band,
They stack nicely in the car
They can be positioned horizontally, vertically, or on their ends, as the situation requires.
There is no signal lost on pass-through.
Most importantly, the cable access and controls are hidden from the feet of the audience, unlike many monitors. This is really important in pubs.
They are a bit awkward to carry, that's the only downside.
Monitor for all purposes
I bought two Mon A12, active monitor before 6 months! I use it in different ocasion: like stage monitor on small to medium stages, like DJ monitor in clubs, and also like front fill in PA mode! All feedbacks are more than good especially for that price range. In monitor mode I don't have any problems with mic feedback also in high level and on same time it sounds natural and enogh present for vocal control! Maybe you can't cover big loudnes on stage when you work with metal bands but there is planty of volume especially if you use pair of them- for example for main vocal!
If you are not obliged to fulfill the condition of the riders, where you can find only strong brands, - this is the choice for you!
Just perfect
I normally use it as an active monitor for my e-drums, and I just can say that it does its work perfectly! Powerful, no distortion, perfect on low and mid-high frequencies. I used it inside a room for practice and outside on live stage.
No regrets at all!
JUST BUY ONE!
These small foot print wedges are fantastic. I wasn't sure at first if these would be any good.
They are lightweight, powerful and look the part.
Being active is just great too. I have used these for small FOH jobs for conferences and as wedges with very happy results.
Clear sound
that doesn't feedback easily. Definitely lacking a touch at both ends of the spectrum for FOH applications for my own liking they are perfectly adequate for on stage monitors for your average gigging band. We use these for monitors and Yamaha DSX 12's for FOH.
Delivery uber quick as usual.
The finish is a bit abrasive - watch your vehicle/walls/table tops etc.
Musicians love it
The feedback i get from musicians is very good, it was a very nice surprise, i will buy more.
It is a bit Heavy for a 12" but is coaxial.
The finishing is good but the wood cold be better lets see whit the years passing what append.
Clean, relatively powerful
Very well built box that seems to be able to withstand a lot of gigging, but for me this still remains to see. The sound is clean and full bodied. I play in a rock band that tends to get pretty loud on stage; Still the sound coming through this box can be heard clearly.
A great but a little impractical stage monitor
This is a great piece of equipment considering the sound/power/space ratio, however, it is quite impractical for carrying around due to practically non-existent handles (there is just an empty space that is meant to be carried by, however, not comfortable enough for an item of such weight).
Can't ask for more
It sound fine, and thanks to its coaxial tweeter, the dimensions and weight aren't excessive.
Even our bass player hears his instrument well, even if a bigger cone is recommended for bass guitar monitoring.
The anti-feedback feature isn't that helpful if the stage gets louder and you push the volumes up, better do that on EQs
The optional cover is recommend!
Regarding the price/quality ratio, you can't ask for more!
Love this 12" monitor, BUT very disappointed to find that although there is in/out xlr for daisychaining units , there is no "out" for the iec plug/socket.
I previously bought the pro MON 10 which had this feature (a few years ago) and bought the 12" on this basis, along with the very expensive dual signal/mains cables. Which are now useless, as there is no iec output.
Also the unit could do with a handle, as the inset means you can only carry the unit with your finger-tips!
Low usage but starting to fail
I bought this unit almost 2 years ago and have used it mostly for rehearsals, at first I was very impressed with sound and output for my vocals, however it is now showing signs of failure due to a much reduced output, this is a real shame as it was a very good monitor for the price, it now seems like a false economy as I will either have to pay for it to be repaired or buy a new one.
Good product, good value
I bought this for live gigs with my band when venues have limited monitor systems. We are not a very loud band and this monitor has enough to give me what I need to hear my vocals and guitar clearly in the on stage mix. The pros are that this is a good value monitor for the price and is comparable with more expensive options. The only cons are that the metal grill is a little soft and quite easily will bend. Unfortunately for me mine was slightly damaged in shipping, stills works and sounds great and as I'm in UK I have decided to keep it as it's only cosmetic damage and don't want to ship back to Germany. I would suggest some more robust packaging to protect what is a quality product. It'd also be nice to have the cover thrown in as well with a discount if bought together.
Great budget option
I ordered this as an alternative to the db 10" monitor which i use for quiter stages were the bands use in ear monitors. And for the money this monitor is amazing. the box could be a little smaller considering it is only a 12" monitor, but the sound quality was great, good bass, and no clipping from the highs.
Effective Monitor
This has been a very effective monitor since purchase, and provides a nice "trebley" sound to cut through the back line. The only thing missing preventing a perfect score are adapters for direct MP3 player entry, but this should not deter you from buying.
Very Good value for money
Very good value for money. Had little bit ground loop noise.. but not noticeable. Its really loud.
Good sound and overall quality!
I bought this amplifier for my electronic drumkit and it handles it really well, good low's and high's for the toms and cymbals. I've playing music with it too and some guitar and man, this think can be loud! Where I have it placed now (a corner) it buzzes a little but not that much. It feels really sturdy and heavy so there's nothing that's going to break. Also you can use both XLR or a 6.3mm cable to plug it in with so that's a good feature. Overall a really good amplifier and quality
the box pro Mon A12
3 days to arrive from germany = great
impressive overall sound for midrange coax driver,
punchy bass, very, very clear top end for vocals,
tougher paint finish than ev elx cabs,
i use it in a rock duo, and give it hell,
faultless with loud guitar and vocals for bon jovi, meatloaf ,foo fighters etc...
hope this helps. GET ONE!!!
Very Impressed.
I'm currently using a Carlsbro PM 15 purely for vocals and a little bit of guitar and was looking for something a bit more compact and lighter than the Carlsbro. I've checked out a number of other 12" monitors but there doesn't seem to be much information or reviews available on these Box Pro A12s. However the specifications and ratings appear to be pretty good and the prices was very competitive compared to some of the others. Therefore I decided to get one of these and see how it went.
The design is very sleek and compact and although there is no graphic capability on this unit, the output is very clear and defined with a reasonable amount of bottom end. As I'm really only using for vocals and guitar, there is plenty there before it starts to clip. If you're on a budget and not looking to push too much through the monitor, this does a very decent job.
