Thomann CBB-01G 3/4 Carbon Bassbow Reviews
Decent bow for its price. The hair that comes with it is terrible, feels like its plastic. The bow works pretty well with a quality hair on it and it has a good balance, its not too jumpy. Good enough for a elementary or high school level. If you are thinking about music academy level tho, would recommend you to get a custom bow from a bowmaker
Good carbon starter bow for beginners
Bought this bow as my second "con legno" bow. Expected a better sound in comparison to cheap wooden bows but with this bow this not the case.
Sound is extremely warm, muffled and silent. For rosin I am using pops.
Maybe is the hair quailty, so one can also check with rehairing the bow.
Stick and frog look good, metal winding and leather not. As usual with bow in this price range. Bow is light and the stick is not "dead" as that can be the case with cheaper wooden bows. Spiccato works ;)
Recommendation for beginners who are starting to play a double bass. Cheap and it does the job.
For the price its a wonderfull bow, well balence and easy to play. Im not sure about the durability but is a perfect starter bow.
excellent
great value for money!
Decent bass bow
Very nice bass bow, easy to set up, and very well made for the price.
goood for price
it is good for price, i use it like a spare bow
great for bowing anythin !!!! probably not too great for playing double-bass:)
Poor construction.
I've only used the bow for a couple of months and it is already starting to loose tension. I don't see any of the other reviews on here complain about this so perhaps I got a poor one.
It is a bit short but worked fine for my needs which was home practise on an electric upright.
Unfortunately it didn't last and I'm now looking for another bow. Not sure if I'll take the chance on another one of the same model. Other reviews seem to be positive and it is cheap... I'll probably go elsewhere. I can't recommend a product that doesn't last longer than this. Even if they're mostly fine it's still a sign of poor quality control.
Very finely made bow
This bow was my first purchase from this on line store in Europe. I was very happy with this purchase. The bow itself is a very finely made one and worth it.
I would recommend it to others!
Thank you.
good stuff
I use it for jazz music, so as an alternative to pizzicato. This bassbow is for German handle. It is quite cheap but for my needs it has a sufficient quality.
All in all a good deal if you are not a professional or a demanding classical musician
Splendid
I have to confess, this is my first bow, and my first steps into bowed instruments. I'm mightily impressed though, at this price in particular. I pulled this out at a gig fairly recently to which the sound man said "Oooh! Carbon fibre! That must have cost you a pretty penny!" Little did he know, and I didn't let on that this was just over 50 quid.
Unbeatable value.
Good Begginer Bow
Very nice for a begginer, lot of sound in the bowing.
Incredible value
This bow is shorter than 'standard'. Stick length (without the button/screw) is 65cm; hair length is 52cm -- close to the size advocated by Gary Karr. And it's a very light bow.
It works well, and is unbelievably good value.
Beginner bow player
Personally I'm pretty pleased with this bow does what it says nothing fancy seems well built as well as sounding pretty good. For any other beginner's that make my mistake get some rosin with the bow as thats what makes the bow grip the strings without it no sound with be made.
A good and cheap, but short, bass bow.
Excellent durability, which makes it an ideal choice for younger musicians. The bow is regrettably short, and professional players should look for a higher quality one, but if you simply want a cheap bow for trying out the style, or if you only play with the bow very seldom this is the bow for you.
Good starting bow
It is my very first bow and it works fine. Budget bow and good quality for the price.
You get what you pay for, and more
I gotta tell you, I was a bit skeptical when i found this bow. I'm by no means a bow player, I mostly practice it in order to improve my intonation, or at least that was my intention when I purchased this bow. But to be honest I was kinda impressed. Sure, it's a carbon bow for like 50 € and I wasn't expecting anything else, but with my bass, it sounds kind of nice. It feels solid in your hand and it's got a good weight. For 49€ you get a good beginners bow and you're able to get a functional sound with it. Highly recommended if you're just getting into bowed playing and want to get away cheap.
