I purchased this Bright Yellow Plastic Trombone for My 8 year old Son. I read lots of reviews saying that I should go for a Porper Brass instrument, but becasue of his size, I decided to go Plastic. Years ago I was quite proficient, playing in local Brass Bands, so when I opened te cardboard box, I thought Id give it a go. So In 2 mins I was up and running. The first thing that hit me was how Light it was. Much Lighter than I could ever expect, and becase of that it was very easy to put together. The sound I got out of it ( having not played one for 20 years) was incredible. I remembered my scales, and even got some basic tunes and the tone bowled me over. So My son came home from school. He opened up the ( rather Flimsey ) case, and put it together immediatly with no issues and within 4...

This is another BvL trombone having the same 480/88” bore profile, but being the “Personal” BZ model rather than the “Basic” one. As far as I can tell, the main differences between them are that the bell is slightly larger, the Rose brass slide is lighter, and the balance weight is a two part design. As you would expect with the bell and slide material differences, this horn plays in a more mellow manner, with softer articulations and a slightly warmer low end. That’s not to say that it doesn’t have any bite when required, and like the “Basic” model it blends and leads beautifully in a small horn section. I haven’t played it it in a big band setting, so I can’t comment on that. I like the lighter slide, and find that in the...

I have never played a trombone before but decided to treat myself to this. I was really interested in a Tuba but couldn't afford one so this was the next best thing. I can't compare it to other instruments as I have no experience but I can tell you that this is great fun to play. I brought it to a band rehearsal and everybody wanted a go. We ended up doing an impromptu 10 minute b flat Jazz extraviganza. If your thinking of dipping your toe trombone I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this. I was able to get the 3 octaves of B flat after only minutes messing with it. I would suggest buying a mute for practicing. These things are surprisingly LOUD! lol pro's Very light Fun Easy to play cons Not really a con but it could be bundled with a mute

Order placed on the Monday, paid for express delivery to UK, delivered Tuesday ready for gig on Wednesday. Fantastic service, thanks guys. After just a couple of hours practice, the R10 was so easy to play and so smooth in the slide I felt comfortable enough not to take a spare bone to the gig. It played with such clarity and brightness, with great ease to push expression from smooth and mellow to course and harsh rasp. The silver bell and slide render this instrument wonderfully bright with just enough warmth from the yellow brass tuning slide to give it a great sound for Jazz and solo work.

This IS an instrument "Specially made for Jazz, Pop, Salsa or Big Band music" to quote the product description, and has a very small bore by modern standards. I use it in a small group setting where it has a nice warm "core" sound at a lower volume and speaks very clearly when played loudly. Playing high and loud it projects well and has a nice controlled tone when played in the lower register. I haven't felt the need to change to a bigger mouthpiece yet. It feels like a very solid instrument, and a little heavier than I expected, the (very smooth) nickel slide is a little heavy compared with similar instruments from the USA. I don't have a problem with this and it may be the reason for it's solid sound. The build quality is exemplary, there's not a trace of solder...

I use this trombone mostly for marching bands and gigs where quality is not important as much. It's great for using during the winter, if you play outside a lot, since the material doesn't get cold as fast as traditional brass instrument. The instrument is very light and easy to handle, easy to carry around. it's perfect for beginners and even professionals. I'd recommend to use the metal mouthpiece (the one I ordered has small shaft), because the plastic mouthpiece that comes with the instrument is kind of weird at first, and I get a slightly nicer sound when I use the metal mouthpiece. The instrument came with two mouthpieces - 6 1/2 A and 11C, so you can start playing right away! I'd also suggest to use some kind of regular slide oil (I use slide-o-mix), because the slide is kind...

I am a brass and woodwind instrument repairer based in Athlone,Ireland.I bought these trombones for a new school project which was to provide instruments to school children at a cheap rate so they could access a musical instrument. For beginner instruments they proved to be of good build quality with sturdy cases and strong enough for kids to put together and take apart easily.I visited the school almost a year later and the trombones are still going strong with no problems and are even being passed down to the next set of kids who are wanting to learn how to play a brass instrument!I would recommend these trombones to any beginner.

I recently bought this instrument for my 11 year old kid who is taking lessons and since day one he felt in love with it. It sounds really good and it can take an accidental beating. I have friends that are professional trombone players (I'm a professional bassist myself) and must of them have one or are planning to buy one. One of them recently had his trombone being repaired because of a fall and borrowed my kid's trombone for a couple of days. He fell in love and recently bought three in different colors, he said that they are of very high quality and for the price they are a steal. I remember the day my kid dropped it by mistake from his bicycle right before his lesson. When we opened it to check it was like it never happened. A normal trombone would have been smashed, this one not...

We bought this as a first trombone for 8 heard old boy. It was a very good purchase. It is light to handle and there is no need to worry If a child sometimes accidently hits it into a piano corner or something. It works as normal trombone and gives a very good start for playing. It is easy to move on into Bruss instrument after p-bone. Ofcourse the sound is compromised but in this use it does not matter. It is still very trombone like. Very good first instrument. Not a toy but real instrument.

"...I won't lose much if it's a piece of crap." I've played exclusively on this instrument for two years now, my "real" trombones are resting in the corner. The sound is great, it weighs nothing and it's very playable. The bag that it comes with is worthless, though, I'm going to get me a gig bag. The slide keeps getting better (it took quite some time before I could dispense with the oiling and wiping off) and, as can be said about most things in life: "It's good enough for jazz".
