Lovely sound and a pleasure to play

Plugged it in and switched on. The Grand piano was the best I've heard. The 'Piano hammer' feel to the keys makes it so much easier to use the touch sensitivity. Disappointed at the lack of 6/8 time in the style. There are so many songs out there with 6/8 I expected more than 3 out of the 230. Heavy to move around easily but it is a full length keyboard. Wish it wasn't 'Made in China!'

Great starter piano

It has a myriad of features and sounds, which I honestly haven’t go to yet. But the “grand piano” sound combined with the weighed keys is perfect for my first steps into playing the piano. This is a pleasure to learn and will surely follow me for many years to come, as my skill and curiosity develop and expand.

Bargain

Excellent piano sound, useful sounds, I plan to use it as a master keyboard.

If you can not afford to buy expensive models this is an honest buy. For a beginner it is ideal.

thougths on sustain pedal in review

I don't like the sustain pedal. It is very short which increases the risk of getting your toe stuck, and it also requires much more force to push it down all the way than an actual piano. It is however pressure sensitive which would allow you to program the input level through third party software. To me the amount of pressure is just too much. My problems will probably get solved by playing with shoes however! Another problem is that it flops around on a dusty floor. I solved this by placing a matt under my chair which kept the pedal in place.

I would recommend buying a separate sustain pedal like the Roland DP-10. That one feels more like an actual pianos sustain pedal, which is what I like and am used to, and it also has one of these foot flaps attatched to it so it will stay by your foot. No matter what.

The keys on the keyboard also requires a noticable amount of more pressure than an actual piano. Which makes me think the person who made these design choices was very strong. I'd say it is not well suited for children. I would also recommend trying out the keys' feel before buying. I didn't have that opprtunity and I am dreaming of just a smidge softer keys, but I will not be switching keyboards anytime soon. Only the pedal. :)

The piano is of good quality and sound, especially for beginners like me. My only remark is that the speakers are really quite if you want to play at a home party without extra speakers. Could it be good if the cable of the power adapter was longer.

Great Value for the money

Impressed with the action of the keys at this price. It's a pretty solid piano, and the piano sounds are good. Other sounds are so-so, and would select it I had a need to use those.

The only really bad thing about this is the display, that could do with a major upgrade.

If you are starting out and you do not want to commit too much in buying gear, this an excellent starting point.

Very good keyboard

except - keys are every noisy, when playing with headphones the noise of the keys can be heard in other rooms in the house

Great for its price

I almost never give 5 starts, and I can't give 4.5 stars, so my 4 star rating is on the low side. Should be a 9 out of 10.

Keyboard has an almost piano like touch. This was my main reason for buying it. Affordable and weighted keys.

I have an old Roland g-800 arranger/workstation with semi-weighted keys, and from what I heard those were among the better semi-weighted keys. This SP-5600 is much better.

It also has REAL midi in- and out, and it comes with a decent sustain pedal. The speakers are suprisingly good for built-in speakers.

2 minor points: I would have liked a built in power adapter so you can use a random 230V cable, and I would have liked 2 seperate left- and right output. It only has a stereo out, so you need a splitter cable.

I have got this since I am a beginner and wanted to practice. I have to be honest this is probably the best decision I've made. it is well made, the sounds are good. obviously I have limited experience when it comes down to pianos and digital pianos but I think if you are a beginner, this is where you should start. I will update my usage as I practice more, so far the quality and features are a clear winner.
