Learn the instrument and have correct smaller harder mallets

Hack: Use different mallets on different spots. Hang the different mallets down from their rope. Beat the mallets with another mallet (that are in your hands). I have 4 mallets hanging with different hardness on different spots and sides. The one mallet I have in my hand, I also use it to beat certain parts on the gong. Love the combination, and the sound.

Sweet spot for the Wuhan gongs

To my ears, this gong has the best balance between fundamental and overtones of the small to medium size Wuhan gongs. It is responsive and has excellent sustain, especially for the size. Very happy with purchase.
