A Great First Gong

This is my first gong and I must say I am amazed at the rang of sounds I can get from it. People comment in my healing sessions how wonderful the sound is from this gong.

I would have preferred a larger gong for my studio, this one is great for travelling I wouldn't want it any larger.

I recommend this gong for anyone as a first gong for their collection. You might find you will never want to replace it.

I made a simple timber frame from 3"x2" timber.

I would have given 5 stars if there was no chinese symbol on it.

Review

I gave it 5 stars for quality - my idea of quality probably differs from others.

The sound of the gong is awesome. It is bronze age technology, it looks it, its real.

Can hit it in single hits, or build up a crescendo from fast small hits. Hit a different part get a different sound, hit it again and the sound changes again.

Rub it for whale sounds. Beats a synth to my ears ! Needs several weights and softnesses of mallets to bring out its full range.

When combined with other gongs they resonate together, lovely.

This size of gong is perfect for a 1st choice.

It sounds less "crash" than the western gongs which tend to be thinner.

The workhorse

I use this Tam Tam almost everyday at my theatre - the sound techs love it! Fantastically subtle and responsive, with a good dynamic range....The build quality is variable, but mine is a winner!
