Slinkier than others, but the tone get better with time
Low tension strings, thinner gauge, pretty elastic to the point that you might be needing to adapt your playing style as for anytime you change and try new kind of strings, I guess. I have this set on my fretless and I like that they are different than the ones on the fretted one. Win-win!
nice strings!!
It has vibe, caracter, feel and sound! It is the cheapest way to get a 'new' instrument, a new sound. Not for all music style of course. Find a matching instrument and setup well. Maybe better for soft touch playing style
Excellent Choice
Used in my US Fender J bass fret less. Have tried all the rest of flats. Anything!!! Nothing compares to them. And they need a slight running-in period not like LaBella flats that they start to feel right after 2 months.
the best
a bit expensive but I love them. also they last for a lot of years
Singing flatwounds
Flatwounds with a lot of clarity and amazing sustain.
Tension is really light for flatwounds too.
The surface is smoother than roundwounds, but not as silky smooth as LaBella760FSs.
Best flatwounds ever
These flatwound have rivh sound and they are so easy to play. Being flatwounds, they last and sound for very long time.
Excellent strings
Best strings ever. Great tone, feel and tension. Keep them clean and they will last for a very long time.
Absolutely the best
I use these on my 1984 Ric 4003s, 1967 Höfner 500/1, and 2011 Fender Telecaster Bass. Absolutely perfect tones for each, and last forever.
My favourite flats. Since the strings are thinner than "Normal" you might expect to setup neck etc. but well worth it.
Simply the best flat string
Those strings are very comfortable and with great tone. They feel like the double bass Spirocore strings under the fingers. The scale is a perfect match with my expectations. E string is robust, deep and it feels vibrating with high mass, but it's very easy to play. The rest of the strings are well balanced and sweet. I mounted these strings on two different basses (fretted and fretless) after trying most of the well known and best roundwound strings (nickel, stainless steel, etc...). Give them a try, I think it's really worth.
The best flatswounds you can get, period.
I?ve tried so many brands and models and this are the best sounding without doubt, they are pricey but you wont need to change them for years and years and they will just sound better during the years, not like roundwounds.
So bright!
I bought them to be used on a P-bass instead of roundwounds. I was looking for some bright sounding flats that weren't to stiff. This is just the thing.
The feel of flatwound, the sound is almost like a roundwound and it plays almost like roundwounds.
THE strings for 50s-60s bass tones
I love the sound and feel of flatwounds and these are as good as it gets.
Best flatwounds ion the world.
finally found my strings
tried all the flat wounds, tape wounds, what have you wound, and finally I found the perfect string. Something about these.. They don't have that super tight, sorta stiff sorta feel that lots of other flats have. The sounds seems a little brighter than other flats. But no too bright. The best strings. For now.
Very Good
Haven’t tried any other flat wounds so I cant compare them but these are excellent in both sound and feel!
EDIT- Two years later and they play and sound even better!
High quality flats for a reasonable price
Excellent flatwound strings. Even though flats are known to need some time to be played in, these sound excellent straight up, better than many other strings, including roundwounds. Knowing that flats only improve in tone over time, the price is worth it in my opinion if you are serious about bass. I am not surprised TI strings have a good reputation. Zero complaints after a few weeks of use.
Pros
- Feel very smooth, strings do not stick to fingers. No string noise.
- String tension is not much lower than other strings, which I thought may have been a problem when researching these strings. But nope, they are tense enough for comfortable playability.
- Very resonant and loud acoustically. Loudest I've tried.
- Look great; shiny, graphite-color strings with nice red endstring.
Cons
- Price (though justifiable as strings are long-term investment)
5 stars.
Awesome sound!
After some less than positive experiences using flats before I decided to give these a go ... and no looking back!
They may not have the top end of rounds but the bottom and mids are so solid you can't get lost in the mix
Smoooth
Like melted butter under your fingers, these strings are very smooth to play. The sound is pretty consistent across the strings from low to high. Give them a while to break in (fresh they do have a little zing) and you'll be in motown heaven.
Fabulous strings to play
Ordered these together with a new V7, but hesitated to put them on since the stock rounds were OK for a while.
However, what a change.
Love how they sound and feel, can't think of any cons.
