Thomastik JS111 5-stars Reviews
Your fingers will thank you.
Well, I don't play jazz... These strings are much more comfortable to play than regular ones and they sound good. Especially good for beginners, when you don't have those calluses at the tip of your fingers. Less pain equals more practice, and that's how you get better.
The Best
Best flat wound strings for archtops, but I also use the 11s on a Telecaster
Nice feel
Very nice feeling strings, I use them on my hollow body electric guitar. They produce a dark warm tone with my guitar played on the neck pickup.
not just for jazz
I use these strings on an old single-P90 Gibson that was a student model in its day. These days it's my go-to guitar if I have a solo gig, more versatile than any acoustic I have. With these strings on it, I can play blues, rock, and folk as well as jazz standards.
Feels like an Apple product
Really clean, really well made, feels really nice and sounds really good. I've been using these on and off for years, I usually put whatever find for cheaper on my guitar but this is one of my favorite sets. Unlike D'addario's these are very well balanced strings so it feels nice and comfortable on each string.
The Go-to flat wounds
Not the cheapest but superb & relatively low-tension
The perfect guitar strings.
For as long as I can remember, I've always hated changing the strings on my guitar because of the harsh brightness and overwhelming overtones that new round wound strings have. So, every time I'd change the strings, I'd play through the pain until they got to the sweet spot where all the harshness and overtones would fade, then I would try to keep my strings there by cleaning them up until they'd go dull or I'd finally break one and start all over again.
Then I discovered these beauties. It's like having my strings in the sweet spot constantly, no need to ever change them, they've been on my Schecter Hellraiser for 4 years and I can't hear or feel a difference.
They feel incredible and sound just right to my ears. I found them very versatile no matter what I play, they always are very articulate, even with heavy distortion. Funk, rock, metal, everything sounds great. Sure the EMGs in the Schecter are part of the equation but after years of Fenders, Ernie Balls and D'addarios, I can tell for sure that these beauties are perfect.
I just love them!
Not enough magnetic mass in the core of 5th and 6th string
I love these strings, but they come along with some disappointment.
While high strings are fine, the low ones, especially 6th an 5th come with magnetic steel core too thin, and that makes bass tone rather weak. This is a trade-off you have to be aware of. Otherwise, fantastic strings.
Super product
I am a professional musician and need strings with great sound, are long lasting and stay in tune. Absolutely worth the extra few pennies.
Great Strings
Really solid and amazing sound!!..
Also good price.
Best flats
Just simply one of the best flats out there. They should add single flats into their product range. Sometimes the lower 3 ones I would change for somewhat thicker.
The best jazz guitar strings
I've been using these flat-wound jazz guitar strings in various tensions for years and they are by far the best on the market. They have a brilliant sound, are durable, and very easy to maintain. I simply love them.
Jazz Swings do Swing
Use these JS111 flat wounds on my Eastman Archtop and love them.
So smooth on your fingers and with an real Jazz sound.
Great set of strings for smooth soloing
The strings are very well made and the coating is excellent. They aren?t the brightest interns of sound, but for the quality, I?ll take these strings anytime over roundwoundedge (my personal preference)
I?ll be trying the Pyramid Gold Flatwound soon just to compare. However, I?ll be very happy to buy these again
Surprisingly good
Very nice jazz strings, awesome sound. My luthier was actually stoned by the quality when he treated the guitar.
Elegant and smooth
They feel very pleasant on the finger tips and sound amazing on my Ibanez 95. Smooth and soft ... as expected for Jazz guitars.
Flatwounds Rock!
I have put these strings on my Stratocaster, Eric Clapton signature, because I found it's sound too bright. I was very surprised, the sound of my strat has mellowed out but remains plenty articulate- I really dig the sound I get with these strings. The string tension is somewhat higher but I didn't have to adjust my setup and eventhough the tension is higher these strings play very smooth! Also, i read on the net that some people say you can't play rock or metal with these but that's not true, yes they sound different but I find these very versatile! Yup, you've guessed it, I've become a fan and will be putting these on all of my guitars!!
Fabulous Strings
I bought these strings to replace my usual Elixir nano web electric guitar strings for my Godin LGX electric guitar. I bought them because I remembered how smooth flat wound strings are and decided I wanted to try them again, and because I wanted that beautifully dull thud from my bass E that those classic jazz guitarists get.
They did not disappoint! These strings are beautiful. They are very smooth, so none of your screeching and squeaking while moving chord shapes up and down the neck. The tones are beautiful and the bass is particularly incredible. There's a bit more tension to them than say, the Elixirs, but these strings are designed for a particular style of music and tone reproduction, so it's not exactly Dave Guilmour-style string bends one would be attempting to execute here. Not for rock 'n' rollers, that's for sure. For those into a nice bit of subtle, chord melody style guitar I couldn't recommend these strings highly enough! Very smooth indeed...
Surprisingly Good, I won't buy anyhting else now!
I couldn't get my favourite strings any longer and decided to try these. To my amazement they were better. I use them on a Nik Huber Guitar and it gives a much more even sound without the annoying ping I got from strings like Elixir Nanoweb. (I like Elixirs, I use them on other Guitars, they just are not suitable for my Nik Huber). So I am extremely pleased with these. Bass string response is just fine and I won't need a treble booster to get my sound across. It might say Jazz on the packet, don't let that fool you, I play Jazz yes, but they work fine on Smoke on and loud stuff like Wild Thing, I know because you have to pay crowd pleasers some times!
Excellent!!!
My favourite flat wounds.
