I bought this so I could string my electric violin and tune it the same as a viola. I'm not sure how well it sounds on an acoustic violin but on my e-violin it does the job pretty well. It's not the same as playing a viola, it's always going to be difficult to properly get the same sound quality from a shorter scale. Having said that, it's pretty good and with a bit of adaptation to bowing style I can get something that sounds nice and is pleasing to play. And it's better than trying to use a viola string on a violin scale instrument.

I don't know why I find so much bad reviews of Corelli Crystal strings. They're my favourite, and I've tested LOTS of strings. I always come back to them. They sound the closest to gut, while still being clearly synthetic and quite stable. They do take a bit of time to stretch and stay in tune, and they don't have the lifespan of steel, but THE SOUND !! It's strong, round, wooden, detailed... everything I want ! The G really gives that extra kick of slightly bass tones that lacks on so many violins. I just don't like the E string of the set, but my violin is a temperamental one on that topic. I use the Hill and love it to bits.

Honestly to say i'm not an expert and i've got it for my sons violin cause his string got brocken( he is a beginner), but i can definitely say that compared to the strings we've got with the Yamaha Violin this one is much better quality and sounds noticeably better.

I had used Chorda G strings on my baroque violins a couple of years ago when it was still purple! Now they're yellow and the good quality of the sound does not seem to have changed. My only concern is the exposed gut at the knot, which seems very fragile and I hope does not break easily.

i found it not that easy to find which string would fit a 5 string violin. I really loved this one, as it gave a clearer and more "complete" sound than the previous string (the one made by Helicore). The difference in tone with all my other strings (Evah Pirazzi) was really clear to me, though. It mattered to me since I thought of my low-C string as a different one than the rest. Still, I love it! Go ahead and give it a try :-)

These violin strings work nicely as hurdy gurdy melody strings, although I?ve found that the Vision Titanium Solo ones work even better. Both varieties have quite a fragile winding, so make sure the wheel and string disengagers are smooth and rounded at the edges, and there isn?t too much pressure. Provided you?re careful when cottoning they can last a long time.
