Great tone, but everything else... like a cheap toy yet

Sounds great! E.g. here I play with Torpedo only:

And now BUTs!

- Onboard pre-/power amps produce white noise. Not related to guitar (you can unplug everything, but noise remains) nor to ground lift, because it is internal noise of the software like some free plugins have. You can play with it, but if you want to record - you will have it audible on the record. If I connect any of my tube amps instead of onboard pre and power amps, there is no noise, everything is quite. So, real amps with all transformers and tubes are much more quite than digital modeller in CAB M+ :) Friend has CAB M - exactly the same noise. Google it - others have it too.

- Constantly disconnects from phone. On the second day app on the phone does not see my Torpedo at all. So, can not use phone to tweak anymore. But tweaking with knobs is a headache...

- Did the last update and it ruined the noise gate. Now at any settings if you don't play for a several seconds, it goes into some hibernate state and then first note will come always witha long fade in!

The software is very bad!

I really liked the tone from the default presets, but the software is very bad and I couldn't make it work. The two notes support did not reply so I decided to send back the unit. The control flow from the knobs on the unit is also not very intuitive.

I also got the cab M and not the cam M+, which was disappointing since there is a different feature set and a different set of cabinets included.

Headphone Out Suffers from Ground Loop

I bought the Torpedo CAB M to be able to play my Palmer Eins tube amp directly into my headphones. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find that there's a very loud humming noise when I connect the amp to the CAB M.

While the CAB M comes with a built in ground lift button, it only affects the XLR out, and has no effect on the headphone out. Replacing the CAB M's power supply with a more expensive power supply partially improved the situation (the one included feels very cheap), but the humming was still too loud to use the product as intended.

Based on my experience, that makes the CAB M pretty useless if you're planning to use the headphone out, especially if your amp's output level isn't several orders of magnitude higher than the background hum. If you're buying it mostly for the DI box features and the XLR out, then you might still be happy with it (it does sound great), otherwise it's a bit of a gamble. I'll have to return it unfortunately.
