Handy little piece of kit

I use on an electric violin and I love this device. A lot more compact than an amp and pedal kit

Electric guitar, finally freed from its amplifier tether

I bought this small amplifier because I wanted to have something battery powered so I can take it outside and that can output to headphones so I don't wake up all my neighbors when I play at night.

It takes two AAA batteries, has a mini-jack output for headphones and a mini-jack input for a backing track. The jack for the guitar can be rotated to work well depending on the guitar or folded in altogether thus becoming quite pocketable. It also has 3 selector wheels for volume and effects, though they are on the far side of the device when plugged in so you can't really see them.

The sound is honestly quite great, I'm quite impressed. I prefer it over my larger Cube amp. The effects are useful additions and can be configured (some of them can definitely get too strong for my taste, but hey, it goes to 11).

The only downside is its flimsy build quality. It's cheap plastic and it feels like it's gonna break easily. Especially on Telecaster-style guitars where the amp sticks out of the body, this feels somewhat precarious. The control wheels are very easy going and it is a bit too easy to accidentally change the settings. The UI with overloading the buttons with functions is a tad unintuitive. But I guess they had to save somewhere given the price so this feels entirely acceptable to me.

Good enough, given the price

Does what it claims, although i doubt the quality of the connection where the jack pivots. Gets some crackle on insertion, but I think that’s normal.

Perfect

This is the best plug for home to use. It is light and work with battery. Use your headphone and play. Listen the sample on product page. I love it. The best thing i have ever buy for guitar

Compact & usefull

I've been playing for years. I use a good old Marshall Combo JCM 800 50W and for small clubs Laney vc15 -110.

I find the VOX Ampplug very useful both for warming up and for playing when the family is asleep. The effects implemented in Ampplug are good and usable. The workmanship is solid and so far I have not had any problems. The AUX input for combination with backing tracks is also interesting. All in all a nice toy that is not too expensive. I didn’t connect it to the mixer so I don’t know what it sounds like when connected to the sound system. For the best experience, you need to have quality headphones, so you should count on additional costs if you do not already have them.

Would recommend

I'd like to start off by saying that I'm new to guitar so surely have less experience and general knowledge compared to other reviewers, that being said I find that this is a great replacement for a regular amp if you like me are worried about bothering other people when practising, I tested it with a flatmate in the room over and he said he couldn't hear me playing at all. I also enjoy the sound and options that come included, would recommend.

so handy to have

great little thing that sounds superb, better than any amp sims that are the same price, handy to have if youre trying out pedals or sumn and cant make much noise

Surprising

Had bought the BlackStar MiniAmp, but realised I wanted something easier and quicker to use, especially late at night, when I would use headphones. Think it's really great and the only thing that I've found a bit annoying, is that it's too easy to accidentally adjust the control "wheels". But still, nothing that really bothers me. Great buy.

Great little headphone amp

Works really nice for silent practice. Good volume and easy enough to control. I haven't used the effects much but the clean-gainy tones are nice

Good for travelling

I bought this Amplug only because I was curious, honestly. It turns out an amazing and versatile tool for travelling, practicing, and when you want just mess about without making any noise. I connected it to a computer speaker as well as at the aux in in my car... super! I only gave 4stars on quality because it's just a piece of plastic, but hey, it's very cheap as well so I was not expecting anything different.

Great for the go!

I started playing electric guitars just, but have played acoustic for 4 years. The small amp is a genius idea, but for me the effects and the quality of the plastic aren't so good. Right now I use it at home and when I go to my guitar lesson I can use the amp there. The price is really good too, but the delay isn't any good.

Just wonderfull product :-)

Probably one of the coolest products I've bought in the last few years ! Allows you to play anywhere. Possibility of 3 amps, with enough sounds to repeat basic things.

Only negative point : the battery wears out pretty fast...

Great tool to practice my guitar everywhere!

Sounds great, and the sound effects are pretty cool for me as a beginner. I carry this with my guitar everywhere and I get to practice with my headphones when and wherever I want. It's awesome. I'm very happy with this Amplug.

Convenient and beautiful device, perfect for playing into headphones or home stereo. Nice sound with moderate gain, dirty sound with over moderate gain, all sounds good. Fx effects not worse than my Vox MINI5 Rhythm CL.

The only drawback for me is that it doesn't have rechargeable accumulator, it's powered by 2 x AAA batteries (I missed this detail before purchasing), but batteries are really work their 15 hours

Fantastic sound in a such small case

I liked the variety of gain control from clean to heavy crunch. Also included 3 FX: chorus, delay and reverb.

Great for individual exercising

When you want to rehearse or play without family or neighbors uncomforted, this is the best solution. Play when, where you want with lot's of features. Handling could be more ergonomic, but for this price?

A real AC30 sound in your headphone!

This is ideal for silent practice.

I use mine a lot for practice. It has some great features, the effects and differant levels, the drive.

It plugs into the guitar directly and you can run headphones out, and an input from your music machine... so perfect for practice...

I love it!
