Vox VX V847A Wah Reviews
Excellent
I like this Wah because it has more width.
Basic, completely reliable, matter of taste.
Excellent quality, sturdy reliable build, a simple effective wah that does exactly what it promises for a very reasonable price. Good choice for the beginning wah-user without all the tweakin-bells-and-whistles of the more expensive models. The voicing is a little bit warmer and less poignant than the ubiquitous Dunlops, so looks and voicing for someone who wants to be a little cooler than the next guy.
Classic Wah sound
I love this pedal, I use it in my board (which is plugged to an AC30), and it sounds amazing. Definitely recommend!
Pros:
- Great Wah sound
- Great feel
Cons:
- Can be a bulky addition to your board
If you want a Wah pedal, this is the one.
love it
Only drawback is that I find it a little awkard to hit the bypass switch
Fit my taste
I used to have cry baby gcb 95. It has specific sound actually not for me. I need classic Jimi Hendrix\John Frusciante style sound (not John's Ibanez wh-10 because it's tone sucker) About one month usage i satisfied with it. It has tasty sound. Only the generally problem is there is no indicative light that make problem when you on the dark stage.
Overall it is nice classic wah pedal. I loved it!
Vox wah wah
This is the wah sound that I was looking for, and it comes in a nice package, and it is shiny. I didn?t notice any tone loss even if it is not a true by pass. 5 stars
Best wah pedal
This is my favourite wah pedal. I use it for classic rock, funk, and indie. It has really punchy tone, with a smooth bite. I really prefer vox to dunlop.
TRUE BYPASS. <--- Good point
Awesome Wah
A great working Wah pedal, sounds amazing, works reliably, cute and enjoyable. A very good sound wave breakthrough. Excellent value for money.
Classic Wah
A simple wah pedal, does the job and the build quality is great.
Great classic rock wah
I bought this as a replacement for a Dunlop Mini Wah which had proved totally unreliable and a poor model in regards to other Dunlop Wahs that I have owned in the past. I owned a Vox Wah nearly 25 years ago and really loved the sound and it lasted nearly a decade with heavy use. Having gone back to using a Vox I can say that the fat and lovely classic 60s/70s Wah sound is still as good as I remember. The only downside is the travel of the pedal seems a bit shorter than the Dunlops but I have gotten use to it. There is very low noise and it switched on and off fairly easy (unless you are sitting down). A great wah at a very affordable price. Thumbs up!
Classic wah-wah sound but......
Just by looking at it, you can see Hendrix playing Voodoo Child. It's a very heavy pedal because the upper part it's completely made of metal, that means that it "should" withstand even the most heavy stomp. Comes with a pratical vinyl bag to carry it around. I give it four stars because, i hope it's just my unit, every time you press it, it squeaks like hell!!
Not a deal breaker but.....
Stick to the reliable
I like this pedal. The last one I used some ten years. This new model you can use with adapter. Recommend!
Affordable Classic
I have an original JEN Cry Baby which I bought secondhand(and not cheap, even back then)in the mid 80's.....reliable,sounds great but suddenly I'm advised its become quite collectible..am I sure I want to using it for small-time gigs in dodgy venues?
So I bought this Vox (purely because it looked most like it with the chrome top)...and was pleased to find it sounds like it too....I certainly can't tell them apart by sound but blindfolded I'd possibly know them apart because the VOX is a little lower and more comfortable underfoot...
Replacing batteries is a feet off job but thats part of the time warp....just leave one top corner foot in place, loosen a little and its no problem!
A lovely sounding and retro looking Wah,very good stuff from Vox on this!¬
Classic tones
Until now i've only ever used a digital wah but I'm slowly analogising my gear and this is the obvious choice. It has a great style and sounds great to my ears! The only thing I found hard to get used to was the pedal is quite sensitive to small movements unlike some of the modelling wah's i've used but after a couple of days playing it I soon got the feel for it.
Vox
The vox wah provides an effect what can only be described as classic. If your after a classic and full wah, this is for you, whether its some old school blues or classic rock your playing this will do exactly what you want and more! excellent alternative to the "other famous wah".
waa
looks good , sounds good, I wish I had got one years ago.
Up there with the best!
I've had a lot of wah pedals in my time and they have come on off my pedal board with every season nearly but I think this one might make a a whole year on it! It sounds great both on a clean sound giving the Nile Rogers type funk sound and with a bit of gain giving everything from Jimi Hendrix to Stevie Ray Vaughan to all the guitarists from Thin Lizzy, Yes all seven of them! Vox have a gret rep for wah pedals and even though it's my first vox wah I don't think somehow it will be my last! So if you your looking for an all round great wah this is it!
Vox wah review
This pedal has become a permanent fixture on my pedal board, there is always a new usage to be found from it. The build is rock solid, it is quite a heavy case on the bottom of it, I couldn't imagine breaking it. Its very simple to operate, just plug it in and step on it and you get the sound. Its a classic effect but it does interact well with other pedals, so it can be used to get some new tones that haven't been heard before. I use it with single coil and humbuckers and both respond well, it works well with all my different guitars.
vox
this wah is wonderful, sounds great, not expensive, i love it. then the input has a buffer stage, the signal i more stable e clear when the wah is off.
advise
Classic VOX Wah Tone!
One of the greatest wah pedals, beautiful wah tone. A real vintage wah pedal with its defects.
Some players might find short the movement of the pedal but it's easy to get used to.
Another problem I found, the potentiometer is not covered so all the dust and dirt can easily get in to the pot. After two month of use my V847 started to make those well-known scratchy wah sounds.
However, you can solve this problem pretty easily with some duct-tape. (just cover the salient part of the pot with some tape)
Apart from this, it is a great sounding vintage-style pedal. I recommend it everyone who is into the old '60s-'70s tones.
