I did a lot of research before making the purchase, but I really only got a chance to test it out on the road this week. I wanted a 2nd Overdrive/distortion pedal on my board that was a bit more mellow than my main, and that had more of a vintage qualities to it, but could really kick in if i needed to. Also the amp I go through has quite a lot of natural Hi end coming out of it even with the treble quite low, so a pedal with a rather precise EQ is a must for me just to tame that Hi end back slightly. By no surprise, this pedal does exactly that. It works well on the board, it sounds nice and fat combined with a compressor and with a univibe you get a true Rock'n roll Heaven.

The SAG button is a revalation.

You know when you plug in an overdrive pedal and no matter what you do with it has that saggy crunch, that just sounds unnatural... the SAG button tightens the response up dramatically and you get a fabulous classic overdrive!

This pedal is no brainer folks, a true timeless sound! go get it.

Great medium heavy distortion

I'm usually more of a blues/blues rock player, but wanted a pedal that could get me an 80's hard rock tone for the times I try something different. This pedal does the job perfectly. I've tried a few Wampler pedals now, and have a very high opinion of all of them. This one is no different. If you want a medium heavy distortion pedal that will let you dial in that 80s brown sound (although it can do far more than this!), then you should definitely try this pedal. Build quality is high. All in all, an excellent pedal that does its intended job very very well.

The best distortion pedal, you can get blues sound, modern high gain and 70s rock.
