Please note - not a bass player here, but a keyboard player turned self-taught guitarist. I did NOT expect this level of quality at this price. Ibanez for sure surprised me here! The finish of the body in matte black looks sharp, the neck is smooth and plays like a dream, the action is set up well straight out of the box, tuners are sturdy and precise and they do hold the tuning very well. One thing I did notice is that intonation at 12th fret was a bit off, which I assume is pretty normal when the instrument travels through a few countries before reaching the destination. This is my first 6-str bass (I usually play 5- and 4-strings), and after playing this one within two weeks I have mostly positive impressions. 1. Electronics are pretty decent and not that cheap. The treble pot has high freq hissing when boosted but it's not too loud and doesn't annoy me at all (also it's ok for most common active electronics). EQ works in active mode only, and there is no treble cut in passive. The balance pot does the work, but there is a negligible drop of low and high freq in the middle position in comparison with neck and bridge positions (it sounds good though). Low and mid eq pots are ok, can't complain. Switching between passive and active modes is not seamless if strings are sounding as there is a millisecond sound loss when you're...

The sound and overall build quality are amazing, the EQ is more than enough and the low-B string sounds really powerful, perhaps thanks to the 35" scale. The neck is really fast and I like the non-glossy finish at the back (my palms tend to stick to glossy necks, here I don't have that problem). What's more, there's no neck dive (something that drives me crazy in my jazz bass). That said, this bass is not for everyone: the super-long scale comes at the cost of having to do a bit of gymnastics when playing in the lower registers. Also, the string tension is a bit higher then what you may be used to from a 34" bass. The reward for that is a really full sound of the B string. I have had this bass for about a year now. I had been looking for a decent 6 string bass at a reasonable price for years before buying this . I have finally found it ! It has a great low B and sounds great from the lowest note to the highest, and is extremely versatile. The neck is super comfortable for a 6 string bass and I love the string spacing which is perfect for me. And the instrument is absolutely gorgeous ! The finish is perfect. The weight is quite reasonable for a six strings ( 4.4kgs). The pickups are very good and the preamp is excellent with so many options available. I highly recommend this bass.

And all my habits have changed. Coming directly from a 4 string that I played daily for the last year.. I tried the smaller cousin BTB605MS and nearly bought it, but always saw and read reviews for this one, so eventually took the plunge. 6 strings of pure raw power.. This is a beautiful bass. The details set it apart from most of the mass-produced herd. Stainless frets, zero fret, Bartolini pickups, "hippy sandwich" construction, and a high quality bridge system give this high end looks, feel, and sound. The neck isn't super thin, but it is easy to get around, and better still, the strings are not spaced too far apart. Pickups have plenty of solid low end, and the longer scale tightens up the low b. As for high frequency, detail is clear, and harmonics sing out. The fit and finish are great, with no flaws that I could find. Fretwork is excellent. As I am playing 5 & 6 string basses "the time has come" to get an six stringer from MM. Up to now I am using 2 six string Yamahas and 2 MM Stingrays 5 (one fretless), the last ones I love for their sound and general feeling. For me the only acceptable color was Stealth Black, bass looks much more impressive live than on the pictures. The sound combination of powerful HH pickups and 4 band EQ gives a lot of possibilities, but flat EQ and both pickups gives perfect, meaty and dynamic sound is enough to easily set it up in every mix. I had been playing guitar for over two decades, and bass for about a decade before I bought this item. Inspired, as I'm sure so many others were, seeing its big sister in the Beatles Get Back documentary by Peter Jackson. This is a fun little toy. I won't deny it takes some getting used to. It's not a guitar, nor is it a bass. The best I could describe the feeling is like playing a guitar with bass strings, but even that is not fully accurate. I always play bass with my fingers, never a pick, and so the closeness of the strings means that you kind of have to adapt your playing a little bit. Also, you can play chords on it, but again, it feels a little weird as a guitarist due to the thicker strings. Where it really comes in to it's own is when you hybridise your playing style. this is an instrument i am sort of familiar with . i bought a five string version of this guitar six months ago ..and thought that it was a great instrument ..and am very happy with that .. i didn't really think that there would be any difference between then.. and i was right .. yes you have a low B .. but now i have the high c .. makes a difference when your writing songs and the ability to scale high down to low when your improvising .. has a greater range ..obviously you may say : ) but the cost is a huge appealing factor hear .. cheap budget poor quality instrument here is not the case . this like all the harley benton range are superbly constructed ..well balanced ...reliable look good .. feel good ... and definitely sound good .. because you'd have to be a bit silly to buy one...

I assume this bass costs less because it only has 2 band eq onboard but I say why pay more for something that all amps or heads (which will inevitably be used) already have; of the minimal electronics it has, they work and sound good. Overall great bass with a full sound, neck is a little larger but the it's thin and the shape makes it easy and smooth to play, plus it bee-yoo-tee-ful with that flat finish. Out of the box it had a lot of fret buzz from 9th fret up on the lower strings and needed to be re-intonated but when these things were (surprisingly easily) taken care of this bass is awesome.
