This bass arrived well set-up, with a quality control card from Meinl Distribution, as well as the usual Ibanez one. No need to approach a luthier for a once-over and nut adjustment this time. The straight-through construction gives a light, well-balanced instrument that "settles" at horizontal, but a light left-elbow pressure on the upper bout brings it up to a more angled settling point with no trouble, if required. However, I found that I needed to adjust my normal playing position to cope with the extra access and higher notes offered by the extended fingerboard. Once that was sorted out, playing became very comfortable. I still need to bridge my left hand to use the very top end of the fingerboard, but that's probably just down to my physique. Access to the top of the neck...

Used at home for direct recording. Good bass on every level - from wood and finish to craftsmanship and electronics. I have used a few from very cheap to reasonably expensive (many copies, Squier Vintage, Ibanez SRF700 with active Bartolinis) and tried some Fenders etc. before ending up with the Marcus Miller V7 2nd generation. The neck (9.5") feels comfortable with no sharp edges, fairly slim. Can be strung through the bridge or through body, useful for someone who can hear the difference). PUPs can be switched between passive and active, though even if you are in passive mode the batteries will still drain with the jack in. With the active/passive switch, the tonal palette is quite broad - within JB territory, still. The body is fairly heavy in comparison with some others but...

Brilliant Fretless. I’ve been playing bass for a long long time and tried a friends Sire Marcus Millar Fretless a while ago and was blown away. Now got my own !!!! Build is excellent, better than my Fender Jazz. The neck is sublime. Action was great, needed a bit of a tweak but nothing major. The range of sounds is great, the basic ‘flat’ sound through a good valve amp is wonderful but the eq gives a massive range of possibilities. I really don’t know how Sire can make a bass of this quality for this price. I would really recommend these basses to everyone. Well done Sire.

always wanted a fretless base :) my choice stopped at this Ibanez model, because it has active circuit + piezo pickup, which for me is a perfect combination. when blending piezo to neck pickup it sounds really amazing. build quality is good in general. center block(i mean the block that is actually a neck which goes through) on the body is slightly off-centered near neck pickup area. it's not a problem for me, though, perfectionists should be aware :) factory setup is ~ok. E and A strings were a bit buzzy near 1 and 11-14 frets, fixed that by re-adjusting truss-rod, string height and intonation. overall - very good instrument. sounds nice - full, warm and a bit double-base like. weight is also an advantage, it's less heavy than average jazz bass.

I honestly didn't expect much out of this bass. I just wanted to buy my first unlined fretless bass, and I wanted a Warwick. Upon unboxing, my reaction was, "WOW." I didn't expect such a quality from Rock Bass line. It is light; lighter than my Pro Series Corvette. Sustain goes on forever, it has a beautiful singing mwah, and ofcourse, the Warwick bridge is delightful to work with. Tigerstripe ebony fingerboard is something of a dream. I just wish it was a bit more polished. The onboard EQ leaves a bit more to be desired. Compared to my Pro Series, the tone that the onboard EQ gives is significantly weaker. I also wish that a mid knob would have been added, as I fiddle around the most with mid when it comes to fretless. I had to make SIGNIFICANT action and intonation...

This bass delivers exceptional sound quality, tactile satisfaction, and remarkable affordability. I've been using it for four years now and couldn't be happier. The fretboard is as smooth as butter, providing a heavenly playing experience, while the pickups yield an incredible, rich, and deep sound. The only drawback is its weight; it's noticeably heavier than my other Marcus Miller V7 5-string (fretted), which may be a consideration if you plan to use it standing for extended periods. In conclusion, its superb build quality and killer sound make it a highly recommended choice!

Was about to buy not too expensive bass, bought this just because it don't have this fretlines on a fingerboard, sound how I expected, definitely not a real Sadowsky bass, but it's much more than you can expect for this money. My favorite Sadowsky 2-band preamp, never really needed a midrange, so it works well. Also its not a big deal it don't have a VTC, without it it works like a regular tone knob 100 percent on, honestly on my passive bass I use it every time 100% on, great purchase, highly recommended for everyone who need good sounding "second" bass or like me who's main instrument is upright

I was extremely satisfied with this product. It's a sturdy bass, though quite lightweight, with a pretty design like most Ibanez Soundgear models. It is comfortable. The auxiliary lines, although almost imperceptible, are quite easy to see in situations of low light; as they reflect some brightness. It may sound stupid, but in live situations, it's good to know you have that extra. The sound of the piezo pickup is well above the norm (nicely enhancing the semi-hollow body), and the tone options are quite straightforward. I have used it live and in the studio with the pre-amp, completely flat. Sometimes it almost sounds like a double bass (more than many of Ibanez's electrical ones). The only thing that could be different is the material that the nut is made of (plastic, it seems) and...

I bought this bass as a back up for a UK tour of RENT that i was on. Essentially it ended up becoming my main bass i liked it that much. First thing i noticed when i took it out of the box was how sturdy and well built it was. It felt quite weighty but the weight was in the right place and it balanced perfectly. I had to have it set up to my liking but once i did it played like a dream. It has a great tone and with the 3 band eq preamp and pick up selector you can dial in any tone you want in a matter of seconds from a standard tone that doesn't sound that fretles and sounds good with a pick, to a classic fretless sound with fingers and the Jaco tone is easy to get. The price is incredible and this bass definitely punches above its weight. I've played bass over twice its value that...

Really enjoying this guitar. The neck feels wonderful and mine has a lovely flamed maple back that I really wasn't expecting. Bought as a mod project and will probably swap out the pickguard, which does feel cheap, but there's really not much room for improvement otherwise. The pickups are better than I expected, but could easily be upgraded. Gears feel basic, but it holds tune fine. Truss rod needed a tweak because the neck was too straight and the fingerboard needs a bit of oil to darken and and moisturise it. Fit and finish is perfect though. If you want an inexpensive fretless bass, this is a great pick. Going to have to seriously consider buying more HB guitars...
