Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite TB3 Octo

If you need a kick to boost your UA system processing power, this is the no brainer option. I would guess the other scenario would be to use it standalone to add support for UA plugins to an existing system, particularly useful in a mobile solution. Unboxed it, plugged it in my Apollo x8p, switched on: it popped up the registration web page. Overall I was done with all of that in about 2 minutes, and up and running. Could not have been simpler than that. Handling the unit it also feels sturdy, which seems relevant if you use it a lot in mobile scenarios. The Quad unit is cheaper but I'd recommend the extra investment for the Octo. This is especially true if this is the only UA processing unit you use: 4 DSPs is not a lot, and if you run at higher sample rates you will definitely run out...
Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite TB3 Octo Cust.
Based on 2 reviews
I purchased this unit to extend the processing power of my UAD Apollo Twin (Quad). It does what it says on the tin, my UAD Luna (DAW) sessions are no longer maxing-out from the use of dozens of plugins across my recording session. My sessions now fully benefit from UAD's awesome plugins, my home recordings have never sounded so good! My only criticism is that when I purchased the Apollo Twin, I didn't realise how quickly I was going to run out of processing power and require the satellite unit, (which isn't cheap), but that's more of a criticism of UAD's marketing model rather than the unit. Nevertheless, UAD offer an affordable entry point to world class recording software (UAD Plug-ins and UAD's Luna DAW). Set up was super easy (if memory serves, I placed the satellite unit...
Avid Pro Tools Carbon

I've ditched my HDX Card, all my Focusrite I/O Gear, Monitor Controller, Headphone Amp, Big Rack Cabinet and replaced it with 1U ProTools Carbon! (I've even made a profit by selling the gear its replaced. I've also gained 5U of rack space. I installed it from my Avid account and it pretty much configured itself once I selected it as Playback Engine in Pro Tools. Done. It has all my synths going in, a couple convenient instrument inputs on the front and 4 headphones out which I am using for headphones but have also assigned a pair to use for a second pair of monitors which are in front of my synths. The main monitors are powered from the back. It looks good and I have to say, I notice an improvement in my overall sound production. It doesn't show any signs of stress at all when running...
Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite TB3 Quad

As many have stated you can't have too many UAD plugins! they sound great but DSP runs out fast. for songwriters who use single or duo core (arrow, apollo) dsp interfaces of UA like myself you will need extra dsp if you plan to do your own mixes. I've got an arrow and a UAD 2 Satellite TB3 Quad hooked up on a Macbook pro 13" (2019) Mojave OSX and works great. it is stable and never had a drop out so far. In case you don't know the Satellite DSR power is only for mixing and NOT for tracking/recording. I would also want to add that Universal Audio has a great customer service and value their customers a lot. Their team has a presence in social media and help out with tips and guides whenever you need them. Great experience so far. I highly recommend! Keep in mind that the standard...
