I expected a different sound

After years and years of strumming on a couple of very old budget nylon-string guitars, I decided the I deserved an upgrade.

I remember that my first serious girlfriend (some 30+ years ago) had a Yamaha guitar that sounded incredible: deep, mellow, but at the same time rich in overtones.

So the decision about the brand was taken. Now, which model? Yamaha is well known for producing guitars in a wiiiiiide price range, from below 100€ to 10.000€. So, after reading about Yamaha guitars on many forums, after listening to side-by-side sound comparisons on YouTube and after reading the customers' feedback, I opted for this one.

In spite of being made in China (only above some thousands € you can get a Japanese Yamaha), the build quality is excellent. the wood, the cut, the finish. no comment. OK, the nut and the bridge could be better, but it is very well intimated and keeps the tuning for long, so no complains about that.

But what about the sound? honestly, I was disappointed. It's not bad (I gave 4 out of 5 stars), but it is not what I expected. Too high expectations? maybe yes, but it happened that I played that guitar before that ex girlfriend of mine (yes, we're still friends), and we agreed that her guitar, her Yamaha guitar, is something else.

Pity.
