Great!

Great for the price! Have one around for the times you just want to doodle around on the guitar, on the sofa when watching TV and so on. You won't be disappointed! Early models had problems with intonation, but newer ones seem to be OK. Sound is about what you would expect for the very cheap price, but the fun factor in considerable!

the smallest guitar I ever had

I was looking for some ukelele which I can take everywhere, but the reason I use to play 6-strings guitar made me decide to buy this Yamaha GL1. It sounds like regular ukelele but in same time is more than it. I had just one problem. The saddle was too high and and that is very annoying. But I fixed this problem easy. Just removed it and cut few millimeters from the bottom. And the result was great. Now the playing on this Yamaha GL1 is very easy, comfortable and on tune wherever you play on the fretboard. I'm happy to have it in my collection. It's a lot of fun to play on this little beauty.

Great value for money

This is an excellent little guitar. The tone is lovely (I've strung mine with Pyramid black nylons), it weighs next to nothing and not much bigger than a ukulele so it's extremely portable. For this price, it's the best value for money out of all the guitars I own.

Good Value

I purchased the GL 1 just for fun. A tiny guitar for trying out chords while sitting at the TV! I knew that the quality would be good, coming with the Yamaha brand. The fretboard is a bit cramped, but it does have it's own distinctive sound, not the instrument to launch a career, but at this price point, great value for money. Definitely would benefit from a a string upgrade though. Overall very good value.
