Worth it!

Baby Genos

If you don't have the money for Genos, this SX-700 will be an excellent choice. All you need to do is download additional styles. The sound quality is excellent as big brother Genos!

For me it's a really nice keyboard to play with & based on now music tone desire sound. It's enough, easy to handle & quality features.

The most optimal PSR

I own PSR-SX700 one month. It is the best synth with auto accompaniment I played on. The sound is solid and drums are readable in a mix like they are side chained. The output compressor helps with too crowded sound and works very carefully. And it is not some extra feature in some DAW - it is out of the box. And this PSR has a normal slide/modulation joystick (Yamaha why so many years before it?). SX700 is an actual younger brother of Genos with significantly lower price. SX600 is just a toy, SX900 does not has so required features to be 1,5 times expensive. Every day I'm happy with this instrument. These are my 5 cents for people deciding which SX is for you. SX700 is the best quality/price choice.

Mid range workstation

As usual, excellent facilites, build quality and a superb range of quality sounds. This is one more for my Yamaha collection.

Delighted

As complete novices to anything in the form of a keyboard, my wife and I, both pensioners, decided it's never too late to learn. This wonderful magical machine piqued our interest following research via youtube etc. by watching and listening to others who can actually play, making beautiful music with the PSR-SX700. We continue to be delighted every day as our practice and experiments with the voices and styles of this first class music machine keep us busy. We love it and are delighted with our purchase.

A decent option at that price point

I'll preface this by saying that I'm not an expert when it comes to keyboards. My instrument of choice is the guitar, but I've always had a piano / keyboard not too far, and I've played it on and off for years.

I bought this unit with two expectations : a wide palette of sounds, and the capacity to record easily, without having to plug it into an audio interface and a DAW. Check for both.

I was pleasantly surprised with the overall controls and interface, which felt fairly intuitive. The touch screen is a nice addition vs a traditional screen and having to navigate menus using the wheel.

Given the price point, I expect some people might be disappointed that the keys aren't weighted, although I'm not sure about it being common or not with keyboards like these.

I also feel like velocity sensitivity is a bit weird. Playing quiet and gentle is easy, playing loud and intense is easy, but the middle ground feels elusive for some reason. But coming from years on a standard piano, I probably just need some time to adjust.

Overall, a very decent model, very close to what I expected. Happy with it so far.
