Great bass
I am a beginner and learnt a lot with this bass. You have so many options for the tone directly on the bass and it gives you so many options. The only problem i have is that after a couple months i started hearing a buzz from the pickups...
But overall it is an amazing bass!!!
Soundbeast for everything
I play mainly metal music on this bass (without distortion) to give the guitar a bigger sound. Having active pickups gives this bass an advantage in different sounds. Neck feels smooth and playing on it is comfortable, also the frets are smooth. Small pickup cutaway is awesome adition for your thumb while playing with fingers.
For me the looks of this bass are absolutely beautiful. Desing allows access to higher frets and comfortable playing all around.

- Active pickups
Someone might not like sound of active pickups and you also have to change battery, but you have much wider range of sounds than with passive pickups.
In this price range it's awesome bass for playing any style.
Versatile bass for a great price
Personally I mainly use the bass for practive and sometimes for small gigs, but it suits my needs perfectly. There's a wide range of parameters that can be changed to affect your sound. Slight buzzing was present when unpacking, but easily fixed when setting up the bass. Finish is also beautiful and I didn't find any other faulty parts when unpacking. For this price, it's a steal. Yamaha delivers on this one.
