Great microphones!

While I haven’t used the legend AKG C451 microphones these pair of new AKG are excellent, the sound image I get when recording with my guitar is almost flat with no need for EQ. I have previously recorded with Oktava microphones and while they are also excellent they tend to add some color into the mix. I definitely recommend these beauties either for recording or for live performance.

Great mics!

They sound bright and a bit flimsy, but they definitely serve a purpose. Nice modern and upfront acoustic guitar or mandolin tone that will sit nicely in a busy mix, per example. They won't replace a more refined SDC mic, but at that price, they have their place in a mic locker. -1 star for quality because the holder is rate on the fragile/cheap side, but again, for the price, who can complain...

Awesome little pair of microphones

I use them on everything, be it piano, drums, ambience, etc it sounds great in every stereo technique.

The only "bad" thing is that it's not so easy to turn on the low pass or dB pad buttons, but I guess that's also good so it won't change in the middle of a recording

Worth every penny

I use it every time I'm recording acoustic guitar, and I get a very wide, clean and natural sound, the raw recording sounds better than all the times I recorded an acoustic guitar with large membrane condenser mic,

It works very well on percussion, (bongos, congas, small percs, saxophone and other horns

The microphones are very well built.

A must have pair of mics

It?s a classic mic, bright, clean, easy to use in the mix, great for acoustic guitars, overheads, strings and you name it , I have use it to record voices too, Doesn?t add low frequencies so a bright voice in a pop song could match. It?s a matched pair of mics that every recording studio must have.
