excellent

I use this mic for recording an acoustic guitar.

The sound is perfect for this price point. Much better than most mics on guitar. Very clear and detailed.

Brilliant mic for acoustic guitar

I use this microphone mainly for my acoustic guitar. It sounds fantastic.

I haven't tried it on anything else yet but I think it would do well as a general purpose instrument microphone. The build quality is nice.

Definitely recommended especially at this price.

If you can not work with this mic, you can not work with any mic

Very universal professional microphone. From Rock to Opera.

Recording and Live.

Not as linear as C480 but still very usable in every situation. Great build quality. Nowdays they are made in Hungary but I can not tell the difference from those who made in Austria. If you can not work with this mic, you can not work with any mic.

The apex of versatility

Been using these mics for years and it's hard to describe in a few words how amazing they are. Everything from cymbals, strings, percussion up to the choir or even orchestra. Willing to invest in dozens more to expand my PA rent.

Simply the best Mic for the price range

AKG c451b is is an industry standard for a variety of studio applications. If you are looking for the best choice for any high SPL application or for a good drum overhead, then the c451b is a very good choice. I personally love using this for recording my acoustic guitar and I record basses from kannel.

In my view there is no cons.

A good microphone

I've used this mic for over two years now and I've been very pleased with it. I think it's a good mic for many things, but I've used it mostly for acoustic guitar, hi-hat and actually vocals. First i was a bit surprised how well it worked on vocals, but now i use it quite frequently. If you have a LDC microphone i would probalby use that for vocals, but if you don't own many microphones this is a good all arounder in my opinion. The sound is clear and open, without being harsh.

The quailty is really good and even the switches seem to be well made. The switches on the mic are a good addition, but i usually have mine at no cut (0 dB) and the low cut at 75Hz. This is well suited for the things that i record.

Overall this is a really good microphone.
