The industry standard

If you need a kick drum mic for rock or metal this is it. Even in studios with million dollar mic lockers this one is brought out when it time to record rock drums. Affordable, durable and sounds awesome. What more do you want?

New clip is a great addition

Screw in clip is a brilliant addition to the new generation of AKGD112. Making sure the old one stayed in a mic stand proved difficult and more often than not ended up sitting inside the kick drum on a cushion, where this one perfectly screws onto a small stand and leaves just enough space to get your XLR plugged in.

As an industry standard mic, you know exactly what quality you're going to get from these, and even so far as perfect for male vocals where required. Used in both studio and live work, you can't go wrong with this mic.

I have had the chance to compare this microphone to it's most frequent competitor, the Beta 52A and I must say, it's a tough choice!

The AKG is very robust, well built, not entirely made of metal, but if you're careful with it, that won't be an issue. The microphone is beautiful on kick, very warm vintage tone, and quite incredible on bass cabinets aswell. This mic is pretty much a must have for a studio, however if you're deciding between it adn a 52A, I would say save up and get both because they both have their own flavor!

such good sound

So glad I got this to mic my Cajon. It really allows that bottom end through and has such a fat sound to it.

Only thing I'm not a fan of is how the xlr cable runs into the unit, right next to where it screws onto a mic stand. It makes sense when this is placed in tight areas to keep cabling nice and tidy, but I find it a bit fiddly from time to time. (very small inconvenience to an awesome mic).

A classic for bass drum and bass amps... This is my primary mic for bass drum recording.

Best for bass guitar!

For now it's my favorite mic for recording bass guitar (Eden 6x10 cab+Ampeg SVT-4PRO).

Good for recording bass drum, but sometimes it's not the best choice IMO.

Great budget drum mic

Great budget drum mic, built like a tank, great sound that is fairly balanced and can deliver both in a lower end as well as in upper frequencies, very versatile, will work for micing drums in genres ranging from black and death metal to hard rock, pop and everything in between.

awesome for my guitar cab

I 'm using D112 (along with a Sennheiser E609) on my 4x12 guitar cab. The D112 gave me all the lows that I needed. Combined with the e609 its the best solution for me (a low price combination for the results in my opinion).

classic bass drum microphone revisited

Very good and very punchy bass drum microphone. A standard!

The new features are very welcome as the old fixing system was really boring. This microphone won't turn in the clamp like the old ones and the smaller foot print is easier to place.

Great little Mic!!!

This mic was recommended to me by a sound engineer and I couldn't be happier with his selection. I rarely get to use this mic, only for the odd bit of recording and the larger venue gigs I play. I don't know much about microphones but I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to mic up a lower instrument.

Pro quality mic for bass miking

I have watched a few pro recording tutorial and checked on online forums to find a good mic for miking bass amps. This one seems to be one of the favourites and for good reasons. Very clean sound and good dynamic response. I am using it together with the audio interface scarlett 2i4 to record in pro tools first. Perfect for bassists and guess also good for kick drums.
