Nice microphone with low price

The AT2020 by Audio-Technica is a solid microphone. It does it job well without any unnecessary frills. If you're into audio recording, this is a practical choice. What makes it stand out is its ability to capture sound accurately. Whether you're doing vocals or playing an instrument, it gets the job done without fuss. The cardioid feature is handy for isolating your sound source and minimizing background noise, which is a plus if you're recording in less-than-ideal environments. Durability is decent. It can handle regular use without giving up on you. The design is straightforward, and the threaded stand mount is a practical touch.

good mic for begginers

hey, this mic is a pretty good one, especially for artists who can send their vocals to a good mixing engineer. overall this mic is a pretty nice option for a home studio.

Excellent entry-level XLR microphone

I chose the AT2020 as a replacement for my USB-driven Blue Yeti microphone. Given the pricepoint and features of this microphone, as well as my previous experience with Audio-Technica build quality, it was a no-brainer to choose this as a replacement. Fantastic audio quality and simple plug-and-play nature (paired with a Universal Audio Volt 2 interface) the AT2020 is an excellent choice for anyone looking for an XLR microphone on a budget. My only downsides with this microphone are the lack of adjustable capsule settings (the default and only choice being Cardioid) but this is a minor gripe in an otherwise fantastic microphone.

this is a good mic for a good budget

Great mic for the price

Put 4 stars because the mic is well made, and has a great sound for the price. I used it for my own recordings for several months, before needing to upgrade further to something which offered more frequency integrity, clarity, and a lower noise floor.

My first mic!

Don't know much about the mics but this one feels like a quality item and very easy setup.

Very good quality for this budget

This obviously isn’t on the level as mics with an extra 0 on the end. But it is dam good for the price. Nice quality and very good clarity. It’s a great step up from just using a dynamic mic.

This mic is a classic the gives great quality voice or instrument recording with a low noise floor.

Actually a very sturdy and decent microphone for its price. Although lacking in features as many other higher priced microphones have. Sound quality is not the best, but for the price does the job that it is required to do, many recordings need mixing. Sometimes picks up too much background noise, you have to play with input loudness. Overall very well-built microphone, maybe better for streaming or broadcast purposes but can also be used in recording mumble rap vocals. Would not recommend for pop music recording though.

Bang for the buck

Did you know all vocals on Billie Eilish's ep 'Don't Smile At Me' were recorded with this mic? The mic sounds great on vocal, acoustic guitars and even as a drum room/kit mic! Nice and sturdy and definitely great for its price range.

As a newbie in the recording game, this is a good choice.

I have been using this along with Focusrite Scarlett to record my guitar and vocals.

Nice Mic

Excellent mic for the price. Great for beginners. I bought this for my girlfriend who was just getting into recording. She uses it daily and I occasionally use it. I have to say I am constantly surprised by the sound when compared to some of my mics 4x the price. The frequency response is fairly flat which is nice. However, I do always feel that the sound is a bit lifeless and needs some work in post to really bring out some nice harmonics. But this isn't a really big problem.

the microphone itself is good and easy to record with. the saund is good. The thing that comes with the michrophone to put on the stand is easy to brake, overall a good mice.

Entry Level Mic

If you're after an entry level mic then this is the one, it's got a bumpy frequency response but if you're looking at getting a mic that doesn't you're looking in the wrong price range

It sounds pleasant, the mic has bumps in the right places, it might not be quite as smooth as some mics as stated before. You might get some shrill at 2kHz depending on the voice but some EQ can change that

It's an award winning mic, it stands out in the mix; if you're already considering it, buy it or save and get a more expensive mic. There's other more expensive mics that aren't as good as this

In my opinion, the source and the room is more important to than the microphone and if this is your first mic be aware that condensers will pick up a lot of the room sound

I've been using these for OH mics and Vocals mainly but there's nothing stopping you throwing it at a guitar cab

In summary, if you're after your first mic there's not much competition without spending twice as much

Quality usable mic but way more noisy than my others.

These mics are great, I have used them on vocals, guitar cabs and drum overheads so far...

Only slight issue I have is that they do give a bit of a hiss at medium-high gain its not a lot but it is noticeable and needs gating off.... its not the end of the world and they are very usable mics however.

Needs a decent mic stand which won't droop if you are using a boom arm though as they are quite weighty

Basic microphone that does what it promises

I have been using this to record some pop vocals. I have a fairly weak voice and I don't have the best recording environment. I was pleasently surprised at the precision of this mic's patterns. Despite its modest build, it delivers on what I need it for and for the price, easily the best value for my money.

It's a great microphone, especially for the price

It does lack in it's features, meaning it has no side buttons or anything as such, but as an overall microphone it's great.

Pros - quality build, great and clean sound, almost no noise even when boosted to the maximum

Cons - lack of equipment that it comes with (it only comes with a carrying bag and a 3/8" adapter for a stand)

One of those best-price Microphones

It is a very good compromise to balance quality and price. I bit too harsh on the middle range in my opinion, which makes it very good for radio talks and instruments and less good for voices (or at least, to be checked on each voice).

If you are looking for a valuable microphone that is surely one to consider.

Very good first mic but I would pitch in a little bit and go for NT1 or NT1A

USE: This is my first mic and it works really well for acoustic guitar and as well as vocals.

CLARITY: It picks up a noise especially if your room is not sound treated but if you put the mic close when singing then it should not be an issue. It's also really good for acoustic guitar. Overall clarity seems really up to the mark, given that this is one of the starter mics.

PROS:

1. Well built, like a tank. It's nice and heavy and feels really well protected.

2. Good sound for the money for Vocals and great sound for Acoustic guitar for the money

3. Non-muddy sound

CONS:

1. Picks up quite a bit of noise

2. No gain control on the mic

3. No switch for on and off

4. Only Cardiod pattern

UNDERSTANDING:

Even though there are cons there is nothing you can not do in post production. It's same as photography. Even the lowest cams can shoot really good pictures. If you have some more money go for the NT1A or NT1 better, and if you don't this is more than enough to get you started.
