Super good kick and Bass mic.

Really solid and small sized mic. Perfect for recording a drum kick. It work also well with bass cabinets.

Still have to try it with a guitar cabinet ( would like to try it with super low tunes) but i think that is a really good mic.

Best kick drum mic for rock.

Title says it all: simply the best kick drum mick available for rock/metal/punk/grunge/indierock and so on. Sounds good with almost no eq (a +5 dB boost between 3k and 6k helps with metal and extreme genres), and much better than the other usual suspects: 112's, 52's, 902's... It's a very specific kick mick though (excellent on bass amps also), so I wouldn't recommend it for other genres like blues or jazz

Superb Kick Drum Microphone

Previous to buying this microphone I was using the AKG D112 (which unfortunately broke)..... So I thought I'd try something different - and very glad I did.

Straight out of the box and without any EQ at all it sounds pretty good (both inside and outside the bass drum) - very punchy.

Even when (unbeknownst to me) the mic was pointing sideways - inside the kick drum (due to a loose mic holder) it still sounded rather good!

I can't think of any cons so far - All in all a very good purchase.

One of the best mics for kick and bass

Sounds deep and clear with a fat punch. The mid-scoop is more pronounced than the AKG D112, but that is very functional for kick and bass. With the D112 I always had the impression that the sound is more 'dirty' (maybe good for other people) and I needed extra EQ to get the sound I want. The D6 gives me almost perfect results without extra EQ.

I chose to buy Audix D6 among few options in the same price range an I am very pleased. I use it for the kick in drums, for percussion instruments like kajon, and as well as for bass amp, I really like its tone. It's a great choice for both stage and studio

best mic for kick drum

After trying several different kick drum mics I heard about Audix mics and after reading the reviews ordered the D6. It just sounded great from the off with very little EQ needed at all to get a great kick sound. works well either on a boom (comes with its own adaptor clip) or laid inside the drum on a pillow, its my go-to mic of choice for bass drum.

Fantastic Kick mic

Purchased one of these after hearing them being used with lots of touring artists coming through a local venue where I work.

On it's own it provides an excellent deep sound to kick drums, but paired with a Shure Beta91A, it creates the perfect kick sound in a live environment. I use it for almost every gig I'm at now!

I've also used it on bass cabs as well and it sounds great on those too!

Audix D6 ... What more can you say ?

Incredible mic. Amazingly well built and high quality. So far i've used it both for recording bass and drum kick. Both sounded spectacular. The kick had really nice punchy sound and as for the bass, I paired it with the DI signal and it's a great tone. Looking forward to more recording sessions with this beast.

Great MIC

This mic is great, the reason I got this mic was that you dont need an engineer to tweek it at all. Its sounds great just on its own, by far the best drum mic i have ever bought. Ticks all the boxes. its had a couple of falls also and no difference at all, well made good quality.

sub kick not needed

If you buy this one, you probably wouldn't need any sub kick in your mix (trigger or additional mic). Probably one of the best kick drums mics in the world at the moment.

great sounding kick mic

This mic is very well built. You pick it up and it just feels like a quality piece of equipment. Physically it's quite small compared to more traditional kick drum mics. One thing to think about is that the clip attaches on the narrow shoulder of the XLR connector. This means all of the weight is in front of the clip and therefore the mic can be a bit front heavy on a mic stand. You need to make sure the clamp on the stand is well done up or they can creep in to the drum.

Sound quality is excellent. It has a specific voicing that means very little EQ is required to get a nice punchy kick sound. It isn't to everyone's taste though so listen to some sample audio before you buy.

An industry standard..

This mic was recommended to me by some industry professionals as THE kick mic to use. It's worth spending the money over a cheap imitation on the real deal, for sure! I was once told never to cut corners when buying transducers..

Perfection

I have never heard a better kick drum mic!

I've been working in studios for a while now. There was always debate over these vs a D112 but for most application this would win, hands down. The vast majority of people seem to agree with me on this too. It's absolutely insane the amount of low end thud and clip these give you.

One of my favourite three mics ever! Wouldn't trade it for anything else within the price range. I think the D112 is more of a standard... but standards aren't always good ;) both are great mics to be fair but this is just more versatile and provides a nicer eq.

Best kick mic on the market?

I tested a few kick mics in the studio this summer and to me - this one is the ultimate for the rock sound. Big fat bass (almost as good as with a sub-kick) and good attack (click sound). It basically already has a EQed sound that is requires minimal work to sound perfect. I think it is time to retire the old Beta 52 and the D112, this is the new winner. Sturdy construction and good mic holder.

Best Kik mic I have used

I bought this mic for a friend of mine for his band. He convinced me to buy one for myself as the sound was awesome.

My Drummer has a Shure PG52 Kik mic which I was finding it very difficult get rid of the boom. I only replaced the Shure with the Audix D6 .... and ..... WOW ....

Very good mic

This microphone comes with a clamp, a small bag, a user manual and a sticker with the Audix logo. The microphone itself is unexpectedly small ( about 12cm long and 5cm diameter ) and the aluminum body and the steel grille makes it very robust. It is a large diaphragm microphone which weighs 217g.

The frequency is raised at about 50Hz to 100Hz and 2kHz to 10kHz. This frequency response makes it perfect for ( harder ) Rock and Metal.

As known for Audix, this is a high quality product. I use this microphone in my home studio, but its robust body makes it suitable for touring.

Bought it for bass recording

I bought this microphone in order to combine it with my Rode NT-2A and I'm really happy with the results! I placed it right between the cone and the dustcap just in front of the cabinet. For an exclusive use it might be too boomy.

The workmanship is very solid, this microphone is built like a tank!

I would definitivly buy it again.

Cannot say a bad word about this mike, it has a great pre equed sound great for metal or rock drums. Its got a clickier sound but captures the sound of the kick drum in a way that sounds full and clear.
